I actually find GT Far Trader to be one of the least useful books they ever released.
I disagree with many of the basic assumptions of their economic model and comical that anyone could think that it actually models the economy of the whole of the third Imperium.
Polity wide resource management is best handled with resource units, while the trader sub-game is for role playing
