G'Vrahn vs. Bin'Tak

(My apologies if this has been suggested already.)

I am a Narn player and even I have to admit that as much as I love the Bin'Tak there is nothing it can do that the G'Vrahn can't do better.

Here's my take on a solution. It seems the problem is not so much that the Bin'Tak is a poor ship as it clearly is a very good war level ship. It is rather that the G'Vrahn is so good at everything. The solution is not to power up the Bin'Tak or nerf the G'Vrahn (much) but rather to force a better separation of roles (which means the G'Vrahn does not get to wear 2 hats anymore).

Why not just remove the commant trait and the fighters from the G'Vrahn and increase the Bin'Tak's command to +2? (The fighters were slightly over the top anyway, they can't even keep up on APTE.)

This forces a significant operational difference between the two by forcing the G'Vrahn into the clear role of fast attack cruiser and leaving the Bin'Tak with the role of dedicated war-level command ship. Thus the Narn would have a reason to use the Bin'Tak over the G'Vrahn and without massive changes to the basic capabilities of either ship or significantly overpowering either of them.

There was that massive poll and debate thread awhile ago... but my take:

Drop Command + 2, drop the AJE to a JE, remove the Flight Computer on the G'vrahn.

Give the Bin'Tak SL E-mines, raise the range of its secondaries to 12 inches. Up its damage to 100. Ka'Bin'Tak gets 12 inch secondaries too.

Increase the damage of the G'quan, the G'lan, the G'tal, and the G'quonth, up secondaries to 10 inches, and make the One-shot E-mines to Slow-loading.

as much as i'd love to have G'quans and Bin'Taks in my list it just isn't worth it. you taking a 'G'Vrann every time from what i can read and i'll usually be taking two Var'Nic in place of a G'quan too.

Bin'Tak needs 100 damage/crew. G'Vrahn needs to loose 5/10 damage and crew. Makes the Bin'Tak into a brawler and the G'V into a sniper/skirmisher.

Same here.

I would drop a T'Loth as well, if it was not for the T'Rann variant.

I usually take a mixture of G'Kariths or Var'Nics over a G'Quan now. I am not sure what changed so much... but they are simply too weak to be effective against another Battle Level ship. I seem to remember them being slow, yes. Also having short range guns, yes. I just thought they were a lot more tankish and could absorb the abuse as they went to a site.

I found that G'Quan stands well as a support ship in larger fights with G'Vrahns and Ka'Bin'Taks. The One Shot Emine is unfortunate though.
