Gurkhas ?

G-strings???????
Oh no, those guys were born-again hard. Elite kings bodyguard of the best and hardest army in the greek world!! They wore either armour or absolutely nothing except a shield, greaves and a helmet.
2 things scared the be-jeezus out of the Persians, seeing a Spartan ready for battle, or seeing a Spartan combing his hair and looking good beforehand (meant the spartan was ready and willing to die and would take shed-loads of his enemy with him when he did!).

But Spartan's were clean, washed and even took care of their hair (which they were very proud of and reputedly never cut).
