Gurkhas ?

Interestingly, LBH, one of the guys at my table tennis club, who is about 80 years old, is an ex-Captain in the Ghurka Rifles. He fought the Japanese in Burma. How cool is that?

Heh, my Dad's uncle was a Lieutenant Colonel commanding Gurka's in WW2 out in Burma... Got the ceremonial Kukri he was given by them somewhere...

An Reborn... Ted still has some 'business' with you when he catches up one day... Your time will come...

Good to hear about the Ghurkas, I could do with some modern Ghurkas.

To continue the WW2 theme my grandfather was also in Burma (and Singapore and Java), commanding an Indian company (Artillery if anyone cares. Not that they ever fought as anything but infantry). (He also commanded a Dutch unit but thats a long, weird story). He even managed to survive the fall of Singapore (captured twice but escaped both times on that day).

wow i think that some sort of new record, 5 posts and we already hit the your mother jokes....

 sounds like my college lunch hour, with "thats what she saids," "your face," "and "your mother" jokes :P

Who wants Gurkhas when there are Swedes?

Seriously though, the Gurkhas would be cool, from what I know of 'em they're pretty hardcore.

As on a side-note; Gurkha is just one letter away from the swedish word "gurka" which means cucumber.

meh...gurkas shmurkas

You want good, you want Australian SAS. They have the highest kill ratio for any military unit in history....

except the Spartan 300. I think they had 3000:1 and they did it while wearing g-strings.

Gurhkas smurkas?? i wouldn't let a gurkha hear that if i was you, those MoFo's are plain crazy, hardcore and fricking insane, but really nice people.

Gurkhas are some of the best warriors in the modern world, especially when it comes to CQB, Kukhri in the face anyone?

but then wouldn't you be crazy and angry if your being paid a fraction of what the rest of the army is?
