Greetings from Moorcock's Miscellany

Mongoose
Hi,

I am one of the administrators at Moorcock's Miscellany and it is with great excitement we hear of the new incarnation of ELRIC! & Co. We have an forum dedicated to Moorcock related games which more broadly encompasses RPGs and games focused on the Eternal Champion mythos.

The Terminal Café our gaming forum can be found at
http://www.multiverse.org/fora/forumdisplay.php?f=22 and we hope to support the enthusiasm for this game, but also open a window to gamers for the works of Michael Moorcock at our site. Did you know that there is to be a new release of the Elric books? Did you know that an Elric movie is in the works? Come visit Moorcock's Miscellany to find out more about these projects, learn more about Mr. Moorcock's long career and socialize with like minded gamers and readers. We also would like to thank Mongoose for rescuing ELRIC!

Tell them Reinart der Fuchs sent you!

P.S. Shout out to Ian!

I was over there earlier to see if Mr. Moorcock himself had sounded off on the new deal, but it did not appear so.

Has he said anything about it to date?

Mike has been extremely busy with deadlines lately. His last comment was that he was working with Mongoose, and that there were more details to announce, but my impression is that his deadlines are interfering. Furthermore, he's been having trouble with his foot again. On top of that, he's traveling abroad as he usually does this time of year to escape the scorching weather in Texas where he currently lives.

Well either way, it sounds as though all parties are satisfied with the new deal, and that is good news.

If Mongoose will allow me to further promote our site, you really should head over, create an account, and pose your question to Mike. He'll answer when he gets the chance, and if it goes unanswered for a while, we usually bump the thread.

Since I assume (or perhaps hope) you mean me, thanks for the shout :)

I shall be visiting Multiverse more often to see how traffic goes, but posting
the news felt great!

Well, if you are THE IAN, then that's who I mean. You've been coming to multiverse.org for like 10 years.

I lurk over there once or twice a month, though I haven't made an account. Though Moorcock was one of my absolutely favorite authors in my formative years I haven't read anything in a long time.

I'm mostly interested in news on a possible Elric Movie.

And I think Tilda Swinton would make a great Elric.

Im a big fan of Moorcock's writings, but last I frequented the forum, I was turned off by the administrator of rpgnow being called a thief, because they sold chaosium books.

I think I'll stay here

Wow, has it been 10 years? OK, I know, probably slight exaggeration, but
it is close :)

Cheers Berry - you always know where to find me.

I've posted over there a tad. Lots of smart folks.

Should be an interesting combination over here considering how many people love the Eternal Champion series - and how many love the Starship Troopers game Mongoose is already publishing. Mr. Moorcock isn't exactly a fan. :)

But I'm glad to see more EC stuff - though at this point I'd love to see a gazetteer on the other multiverse worlds, such as Corum (both five planes and the celtic lands invaded by the Fomori), Erekose, Ulrik Skarsol, among others.

And I like that it will be in the same rules set as the Lankhmar and Runequest stuff. I'm a huge crossover maven.

So good news all around.

The only thread where rpgnow is mentioned is this one:

How would you make an Elric/MM Multiverse RPG?
http://www.multiverse.org/fora/showthread.php?t=1948&highlight=rpgnow

If you search the thread, you'll discover the word "thief" is not present.

I hesitate to resurrect the very nasty conversations that have arisen surrounding Chaosium at the Miscellany, and they hardly have any value at this point. It would seem that Chaosium are out of the Moorcock business for good. Suddenly compelling products on the horizon. I suspect Ian, gamers and Moorcockistas have driven those who were not paying Mr. Moorcock out of the business of Moorcock to the benefit of the gaming community as well as our favorite author. Within a year, almost no one will be using the word Chaosium within the multiversal context.

You don't read a lot about it here and elsewhere, but if you search diligently at multiverse.org you will discover a conga line of writers who got screwed by Chaosium posting their complaints.

I'd like this post to be the beginning of a bridge. I wish it to be a bridge for those skilled writers who could have done better than Chaosium, but wrote for them because none other could offer a platform for those who enjoy Moorcock's own writing.

I'm hoping those who know Lawrance, and the others who may have been offended by the Moorcock community's reaction to their allegiance to with Chaosium, will pass this message on: Berry Sizemore regrets and humbly apologizes for the animosity generated by misunderstanding and bias. Since I don't know how to contact him, I can't apologize in person. Paraphrasing Mr. Moorcock here: "I hold nothing against those who contributed to Chaosium." You'll find this graciousness somewhere in this pile of posts he made by searching for "Chaosium" and focusing your search on "Michael Moorcock". Instead of relying on me to tell you what he said, you can see what Mr. Moorcock has written about the subject himself. The search above takes you to a list of every one of his posts where he used the word Chaosium. Decide for yourself if he was being ripped off, or if there was a misunderstanding.

Anyway, many changes have occurred at Moorcock's Miscellany and I personally welcome the gaming community and hope you will find the site to be a resource for understanding the multiverse as Mr. M. discusses it. There are also a lot of members who love gaming and I'm sure you'll find a lot of people there who will become passionate about this rebirth of The Eternal Champion and RPGs.

Thank you,
Berry Sizemore

Assuming you mean Lawrence Whittaker - who now writes for Mongoose - he is active on these very boards, Berry.

Tee hee......Within a few months most people may well be using Chaosiums upcoming BRP to play (what look to be) the excellent Mongoose EC supplements. (though with the good work that has been done on the ruleset by the designers of the new EC games - it is possible that more people may turn to the Mongoose system)

Back on topic......I occasionally visit the multiverse forum.....I grew up reading the stories of Michael Moorcock, Tolkien and Greg stafford. They are my heroes :) (along with Steve Perrin)

I hope that apology will be extended to Nathan Baron, the guy who runs the EC Yahoo group? He was somewhat humiliated publickly for supporting Lawrence Whitaker.

Loz and I have worked things out at Moorcock's Miscellany! He even stopped by to say "hi". :-) http://www.multiverse.org/fora/showthread.php?t=5621

It's gotta be Samuel L Jackson, or no one!

"I've had enough of these %"%$ing Olab on this £^£Y&ing boat!"
etc etc

Seriously though, I hope the movie gets made.
