Great Rift Adventure 1: Islands in the Rift 2D Deck Plan

Is there a 2D download for The Perfect Stranger somewhere? Or perhaps someone has already modified a deck plan of a normal Type R and is willing to share it?

I created a 2-D deck plan of the subby in Adobe illustrator. I could update it pretty easily so that it matches the one in Islands in the rift; can you wait until the end of next week? My wife and I are away on vacation and I don’t have access to my Traveller files.

No laptop on vacation? I’m proud of you, even if you do owe me a manuscript.

I do, don’t I? My enthusiasm to get it into your hands outstripped my ability to deliver it on time.

It’s coming! 😉

The bane of many a writing project. Even volunteer editors can be a PITA.

Hi @paltrysum.

Did you ever do this? I'll be running I in the R soon, and a 2D deckplan I could drop into roll20 would be a godsend. :)

No, but I will renew my efforts to get it done in the next day or so. I would like to run that adventure some day and could use a set of 2D deck plans for it myself.

Great, thanks! :)

How does this look? Have I missed anything? I did notice that there are a few "unreachable” rooms on deck 1. For example, the two hidden turrets and the central power plant. Not sure if that was intentional by the designers. I also threw in some detail for the launch which was blank.

That looks perfect to me. (which is apt! :D ). Thanks!

I think the pop up turrets and aux power are controlled from the covert systems room, so don't strictly need separate access, although you'd think you'd need access for maintenance?

Anyway, this is more than good enough for my purposes. Looking forward to putting it to use! :)

Cheers,

Si.

Ah! Just one tiny thing you missed - the ceiling iris valves to the dorsal turrets. But I can add those myself in, like 2 minutes.

This is great, thanks again.

Thanks for letting me know. Away from home at the moment so I can’t fix it, but i will update it in a few days.

I think those two turrets would be ventral, not dorsal. If they were dorsal, they would go through the fuel tanks. Those are pop-up turrets ("pop-down"?), so I would assume they appear on the ventral side of the ship when they come out of hiding.

EDIT: I read through the section again and I don't think there would be iris valves that lead to them. The workstations in the adjacent room allegedly access the turrets. So I put the illustration back. In any case, you mentioned that you could fix it simply for yourself so I'll leave the deck plans as is.

Hi. I don't mean the covert, pop up turrets. I mean the openly visible turrets on the top of the ship.

But don't worry, even I can just copy and paste a couple of icons in Paint. :)

Cheers,

Si.

Oh! Duh. Yeah, sorry about that. Tunnel vision on my part. Fixed for future users. :)
