Got a glimpse of Project N today

Well, it looks like the announcement for v3 is just as successful and on time as the old ACTA line products were...

The plastic ships were all small, as in most of them would fit nicely with the old Fleet Scale minis. The Metal ships have a good size difference as well, with the dreadnoughts being as big as the Omega or similar sized ships.

Shooooot...and I'd so been hoping this would have been the Nall of Nthulhu: War among the Stars, with the space squids carriers, and tentacled fighters. I guess Noble Amarda will have to do. At least I have those books handy and won't have to go down into the cellar for my fish scale encrusted copies of Nthulhu Space Battles books.

I'd like to know whether the game will include counters as well. This is a must for me so I can try before I buy any miniatures.

try what? it's B5 Acta, with some bells on... and hopefully better balance.
just use your b5 as proxioes to see if the tweaks are to your liking, or wait 5 minutes after release for all the player conversions to ... B5...

plastic ships would be ace, no more broken flight stands

They are all metal this time round (allowed us to tweak the designs slightly), but there won't be any more broken flight stands, as they all use our ball and socket joint stand!

Patience :) There were a couple of issues with other parts of S&P, and Nick is working like a demon to correct them all this morning. You can start the countdown now :)

Ok, well let's assume i'm someone who hasn't played ACTA before and wants to try out this game before spending money on miniatures and I don't have any other miniatures to use. Will there be counters provided with the game?

my bad, as an acta poster, i thought you had played it lol.

No, you're not wrong exactly. I have played ACTA 1st Edition and a little 2nd. I haven't been around on the forums for a long time, though. I'd just like to see ACTA introduced to a wider audience and the second thing that got me into the game (beyond liking B5 first) was that I could buy it and play with colourful counters which looked like the ships they were supposed to be representing. This meant i could play the game a lot before buying a single miniature. I know Mongoose want to sell minis, and more power to them, but i'd like to mthink this wasn't the only way to play the game.

Counters are easy to make, you just cut out a rectangle of card, mark the centre, a cross for the arcs and write which end is the front. Write the name of the ship on it and you're good to go.

Inevitably someone will do a counter sheet you can stick to card and print out, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks!

The photographs of the minis are very pixelated and do the miniatures a great disservice, any chance we can get better quality images of those miniatures in the article? I'm trying to whip up some support, but the quality of the 'promotional' material isn't winning anyone over ;-)

Could you indicated what's included in the Fleet boxes? And are the miniatures in the same scale/size as the ones from Holistic Design/Agents of Gaming?

How much support can we expect for this line? (And the question you don't want to hear, for how long?)

We'll go through the fleet box set contents very soon. And yes, they are the same scale as Holistic's designs.

Quite happy to hear it :)

Like the old CTA, we have oodles of support planned, such as wandering demo teams, tournaments, S&P articles, new ships and fleets - and at the bottom end of 2011 the first supplement covering, among other things, the Church and alien races.

As for how long, that very much depends on you chaps. We have no big film studio above us on this demanding their pound of flesh on a regular basis, so as long as you chaps keep playing, we'll keep supporting!

The stuff in S&P looks intriguing. The only issue I have is that I've taken some care in mixing and matching the scales from B5 Fleet Action and B5 ACTA (and unofficial BSG models) to get a better relative sense of scale between my ships. If the new range is all 'big size only' and out-of-scale I'm not sure how interested I'll be in picking them up.
