GM Screens - News

Just to let you all know, the release of the Paranoia screen has been delayed until December (though you may see it in November, if the Gods of Printing are kind). We have made some changes to the way Int Sec and High Programmers work, and so the screen has been delayed in order to take those changes into account - you will thus be able to use the same screen for all three rulebooks.

Yesterday I saw the GM screen - it's a lot more flash than the preview pic on-site would have us believe :) I owned the 2nd edition screen back in the day, which was printed on the same 'card' WEG used to cover their paperbacks, and was expecting something similar from Mongoose. In fact, the Mongoose screen could probably withstand small-arms fire - each panel is about 2.5mm thick. The outside is decorated with a montage of cover art, rather than the plain black suggested by the website.

I thought I'd make a note of that in case any readers, like me, were thinking "TEN POUNDS FOR A SCREEN?!" :) It's still a lot for a screen per se, with no bundled mini book, but as screens go it's pretty pimp.

To stop this post being total Mongoose cheerleading, and the accusations of sockpuppeting that might follow, I also saw the Forms Pack and was underwhelmed. I loved the 2nd edition forms that were laid out by graphic artists to look like, well, forms. Hell, the WEG Form Pack had forms printed in triplicate - white, pink and yellow sheets with carbon paper! The Mongoose forms pack looks like a collection of unstyled Word documents bound together :-/

Thanks for the update, I really like the new GM screens from MGP. I have the B5 and RuneQuest screens and love them. My only wish is that they were like the 4th ed D&D screen, low and long. Not a big complaint though. :)

WOW... I still have that set of forms... the ENTIRE PACKET! got an entire collection of 2nd ed stuff at a con auction (with the 6 part Paranoia Comic) and love to amaze my friends how a first class company supports a 'serious' RPG (I mean c'mon, anyone see the crap WotC sold for $10 or so as a "character sheet pack'?
