GM Aids: Keeping track of stuff

My 17 " laptops are 7 and 6 years old and travel a lot (in fact this one is over 1,000 miles from home as I type...)

The ones before these were over 5 years when sold.

Keep them cool, stable and free of food and drink. (And out of the pool/shower/tub or sink) ;)

Expect to go though some hard drives (as with desktops, but more frequently) - 1 every 3 to 5 years. This is normal and easily addressed.

P.S. - I love 6x9 three ring binders as they complement digest sized books.

I have my homemade GM-screen. A big bunch of pre generated NPC's on 3*5 cards, both single with more detail and those with 5 NPC's per card for the cannon fodder. Both card types have the name of the NPC, I always have trouble making those up and remembering them.
Also a bunch och cards with short location descriptions.

I've gotten a lot of mileage out of one of these:

And a something like these:

I can use one card per NPC and stick them on the appropriate page for the adventure arc I'm currently taking my players through. I devote roughly 4-5 pages per story arc. I leave the NPC's for that arc stuck to the page so I know where the last appearance was and I can bring him forward to a current page if I need him again.

Additional handouts/collateral are kept in page sleeves in three-ring binders.
