Glorantha weather table

I recall one from some RQ2 supplement, maybe the RQ Companion, but it wasn't particularly good, and as I recall it resulted in Glorantha having very bad weather overall.

Though not officially described this way, I have for a long time now based the weather on the week and day (and of course season). Windsday in Movement Week is likely to be brisk (especially in Storm season). I roll a d6, on a 1-2 I base the weather on the week, on a 3-4 I base it on the day, and on a 5-6 it is unrelated to the date (I often roll another d6 to determine which other day of the week to base it on).

This system is so there is a relationship between the runic powers behind the calender and the weather without making the weather totally predictable. Some days, such as Windsday during Stasis Week, represent a minor cosmic struggle behind the weather.

Of course this only really works where the Theyalan Calender is used.

Hi,

There was definetly a weather table in Griffin Mountain. I think there was one in either Borderlands or Pavis, but of course that is for the deserts of Prax.

Griffin Mountain has a weather generator and it works fairly well. What I tend to do is generate a year's weather at once, so I can always tell the players what the weather is going to be, unless they change it in which case I do a bit of a fiddle.

There was an unofficial one for Prax, I think, but I can't remember where it was.

The problem with a general one is that each area of Glorantha is different, so you would need different generators for each area. Also, Gloranthan weather is mythical in nature, so would be magically different.

Bad weather is endemic in Glorantha. The Storm Gods are all-powerful, Winter Gods are very powerful in winter, Dara Happa has strong Sun Gods and so on.
