Glorantha half elfs?

Greetings

I'm quite curious on whether half elfs are plausible in Glorantha or not. At first I thought not due to the vast biological differences but then read of Pavis and it states he was a half elf. If this is true does it mean humans and elfs can mate and prehaps more half elfs, quarter elfs etc live in Glorantha?

cheers.

P.S Also how would the biology work if elfs hav sap whilst humans have blood?

I can already imagine all the Doctor McCoy impressions other players would direct to a player with a Glorantha human/elf character !

Half Elf : "Look I know half the party are in a state of hypothermea, but we can't burn that tree to stay warm. It's a long lived and noble being !

'McCoy': "Why you heartless, emotionless, green blooded , pointy-earred bastard !"

AFAIK Lord Pavis is the only "half Elf" in Glorantha, and even then I'm not sure it is biologically true...

Arkat was supposedly raised by Elves (who consider him to be Gbaji - the Deceiver), although he was actually Human (well, Brithini originally) before becoming a Troll.

Nothing is impossible in a world where Myths are true, though, so if you want to have a half elf in your game, then don't let impossibility stop you

That was funny.

There are stats for half-elves (maybe in Pavis & Big Rubble or RQ Companion, I can't remember).

There's no problem with having them as both are descended from the Man Rune/Grandfather Mortal. It's as easy to have half-elves as half-trolls. Biology isn't important as it's all magical, in my opinion.

Its written in King of Sartar that certain magics that allowed different species to interbreed were strong during the Second Age: this is how Pavis comes to be half elf, half human. His daughter bears a child, Ginkizzie, with a dwarf.

As to what those logistics and biologicals entail... I'd suggest its something best left to GM discretion and mythic necessity. In Glorantha things do not work to standard Earth science. Things happen because the place is suffused with magic, wreathed in myth and the gods are real.

No they aren't. They're just Second-Order Eransachula, merely an interference pattern created by runic interactions.

...suitable only for their proper and logical purpose - exploitation.

Bloody God Learners.

Anyone with any ounce of intelligence knows that its all part of the Cosmic Dragon's consciousness; the denial of Orxili and the contemplation of the Null.

You're doomed. You know why? You let ducks in. No way that thing's going to take off with even a trace of duck in it.

My old friend Nick Fortune wrote a splendid little tale about a Stone Elf about 15 years ago. I republished it on my campaign website - which I must get round to updating!

Brilliant! One of the best Gloranthan stories I've read.
I'll pass that on. You might also like this one, which might work as a nice preface to Tenets of the Inner Dragon

I need to convince Nick to come out of retirement and write more of this stuff...
