Currently the largest ship building company in Clement Sector, the Anderson and Felix Shipbuilders Company was started on Hub in 2299 by Jamie Anderson and Reynaldo Felix. Both Anderson and Felix brought to Clement Sector their considerable expertise and experience constructing space vessels for travel between Earth and the Earth Sector colonies. And now that expertise is in your hands!

Ranging from tiny ten tonne work pods to massive armored system defense monitors, the space ships of Clement Sector are as varied as the crews that operate them.

This book provides the tools for a naval architect to design small craft to huge in-system ships, trader or capital ship. They can install the latest technology to allow the ship to transit interstellar distances, use inertialess drives or to “ride fire “on a ship that uses spin gravity to provide for crew comfort. They can also design low technology missile armed warships or capital ships bristling with high energy weapons and ship killing torpedoes.

The Anderson and Felix Guide to Naval Architecture uses the Mongoose Traveller System Reference Documents (SRD) for Core Rules and Book 2: High Guard (available from Mongoose Publishing), merging and customizing the two documents to tailor the ship design sequence for space craft in the Clement Sector Setting. Even with this customization, there are many additional components and associated rules adjustments that could be used in any setting.

Both the adventure class ship and capital ship design sequences have been merged into a new design sequence that allows for better design flow.

"Traveller" and the Traveller logo are Trademarks owned by Far Future Enterprises, Inc. and are used with permission. The Traveller Main Rulebook is available from Mongoose Publishing.

I bought it what do you want to know?
I like it

What's your impression of "merging and customizing the two documents to tailor the ship design sequence for space craft"?

What does the book add to the ship design sequence and how does it improve it?

everything is tech 12 for the most part(some lowe tech level equipment
all Jump drives(Zimm drives) are just jump 2

Better discriptions
Zimm drive ships max out at 5000 tons
SDBs max at 20,000 tons
added luxuries
added Defense nodes(non ship weapons in the anti-missile role for any ship that is a small craft(damn it ,could have used a gattlling laser)

that is why I said damn it
as the 1 energy slot I had left on my 100 ton attack boat I cannot use it for that
damn it

Just a clarification

PD Nodes are only available for non small craft vessels. :)

I hate when that happens!

There is a lot there for those not using the Clement sector setting as well.

Clarifications and expansions, plus new components such as crew berthing, hold types, PD node arrays and the reaction drive and spin gravity modules.

If you're familiar with MgT's 2300, how much do you think would work for the setting?

In what regard? Using A&F to design ships for use in 2300?

I am not overly familiar with the Mongoose version but I know it is a bolt on to Traveller.

Are you talking about using stutterwarp propulsion here at all? Zimm Drives are different but can "micro hop" given there is enough fuel left after an FTL transit to do so.

To answer my questions I think it's probably easiest to buy the book!

Will go ahead and do that!

Bought the book, and quite liked it! I was a bit hesitant at first, it seemed to be "only" a merged document with all the shipbuilding rules in one place, with hopefully some lovely pictures and perhaps some clarifications/alternate choice of words, but may the fourth came along, I was curious... And the book is this. And more. Haven't quite gone through all of it yet, nor tried to build something, but so far I like what I see!

Some things that's popped out thus far for me are the alternate stats for missiles and the additional internal components, such as crew barracks, spa, luxury suites and so on. Love it! Definitely gonna use thee missiles from now on, makes the humble little missile turret actually useable!
