Getting Drunk

Can't seem to find any rule covering intoxication from alcohol- have I missed them, or are they waiting in the Troll book?

Who needs rules for that, anyway?! :)

We've got rules for marking a mineshaft/maze wall with a chisel so why not rules for getting plastered;
We've got relatively complex combat...
Why not drinking competitions? :)
(projectile vomiting, passing out, etc. the results could be endless.)

Definitely very useful rules. Needed for Trolls, with their stranges beverages.

"Miserly, adventurers always nurse their drink."

I didn't had your perspective at first, but I'm coming around to see your point of view...

Warhammer roleplay has rules for getting hammered, as well as the "stinkin' drunk" table for once it hits you.

Since its both % based, you could use that (and WFRP is a damn fun game in any event)

Otherwise, since we dont have a resistance table anymore, just roll resilience rolls every 2 drinks or so, with an increasing penalty.

Why waste alcohol on the characters. Have the players drink the booze then have him play. Best game to play drunk though is Junta though.

Really Cheesey Drinking rules- partly done

Description (RPM)Resilience Penalty per Measure
Very Weak (Water Wine, Weak beer) -1
Weak (Kumis) -2
Moderate (Beer/Ales) -4
Strong (Strong ales / Wine /Blood Beer) -6
Potent (Weak Spirit) -10
Very Strong (Strong Spirit) -15
Very Potent (Eau de vie) -20
Sheeeeeee t (Paint stripper) -25

After drinking a measure of alcohol, the target makes a RES roll with a penalty equal to the drinks RPM.

RPM accumulates as drinks are consumed, and the total is applied to the next drinks RPM. RPM is accumulated as per following res roll results:

Res Roll RPM accumulation
Fumble--- Add Triple RPM to running total
Fail------- Add Double RPM to running total
Success-- Add RPM to running total
Critical--- Add half RPM to running total

When RPM exceeds CON then character recieves a penalty to all skills equal to this excess.
The character must also roll on the I'm completely plastered what happens table adjusted by the excess. (Subsequent consumption of beverages also forces further rolls).

I'm completely plastered what happens table
Not tabletised as yet ran this on the hoof and made up a few results.

Delusional-
Brag and spout tripe about your heroic nature.
Spill the beans on your identity, slip finger into magic ring etc.
Talk complete tripe which registers as True under any Truth detect spells.
Paranoia.
Get fanatical with a random victim (usually the smallest person in the bar)
Get fanatical with a random victim (most dangerous person in the bar)
Believe your Cha is 35.
Believe your Cha is 35 and make pass at nearest person of your prefered gender.
Believe your Cha is 35 and make pass at the most dangerous individual in the bar (babeester gor, Great Troll) regardless of genderor species.
See you best friend ever sitting in the corner of the bar... you love him man...(plutonically that is)
Physical-
Unable to stand
Pass out
Pass out and vomit.
Vomit- lose 1d8 RPM, take 1 damage to abdomen.
Really Vomit- lose 2d8 RPM, take 2 damage to abdomen.
Really Vomit bady- lose 3d8 RPM, take 3 damage to abdomen.
Brain damage -1 INT.
Boring - 1d4 per measure of alcohol drunk to abdomen.
Loose control of bladder.
Go blind for RPM minutes.
Misc-
Possessed by a Spirit Spirit.
Unable to lie, but talk about pointless stuff, price of carrots, etc.

You might want to ad to the RPM something like

Waits an hour before consuming another drink +1

Or even something for the character that is nursing a drink and not trying to get drunk. Beyond that I like this.

My Rules for getting drunk are pretty simple:

1) When the evening starts, look around for a member of the opposite sex that you would never consider sleeping with. As you get drunk, keep tabs on this person. When you actually consider sleeping with them, it is time to stop drinking.

1a) If in Las Vegas, be extra careful - you could end up married.

1b) If you are an ornery drunk, apply the same principle to choosing someone you would never pick a fight with before the drinking commences.

2) When mixing Alcohol with other mind alterants (legally prescribed - of course) start imbibing all substances around the same time - DO NOT wait until the room is already spinning before taking the other aforementioned (legally prescribed) substances.

3) If you are going to toss make every effort to make it outside, it is not polite to tie up the toilet, particularly if you tend to pass out after hurling.

4) If you DO toss, be sure to check for potential scenarios in there.

5) At no point is it worth it to just start drinking other peoples half finished drinks.

I am sure there are other important lessons I have learned while drunk, unfortunately I have never remembered what they are the next day.

At what point do you start calling the great troll in the corner 'Shugahtitz'? and blaming all the world's wars on the Godlearners?

RQ3 Vikings had some easy-to-use drinking rules that we used for HQ very easily.

They didn't mention Samogon (25 on the above table) though

Here we go:

Threshold = CON divided by 3.

Each drink after threshold adds 5% to Drunkeness.

All skill checks reduced by Drunkeness.

After each drink over Threshold make an opposed roll of Drunkeness vs. Resilience. Losing the roll results in rolling on following table:

Code:
Roll 1d20:

1-2 Hit on Most Attractive Member
        of Opposite Sex (Confidence)

3-4 Hit on Least Attractive Member
        of Opposite Sex (Best Odds)

5 Hit on Member of Same Sex

6 Hit on Babeester Gor cult member
        (Dumbass)

7-8 Pick a Fight with Largest Person
        in Room (Confidence)

9 Pick a fight with Smallest
Person in Room (Being an Ass)

10-11 Fall Down

12 Fall Down and take 1d6 Damage to
        Random Location

13 Pretend to be a Duck (If actually
        a Duck Attempt Suicide Instead)

14-15 Vomit (Pathetic)

16 Vomit on someone else (Being an Ass)

17 Pass out for 1d12 Hours (Pathetic)

18 Start Yelling "Look at ME - I'm a Broo!"
and start dry humping inanimate objects.
        (Being an Ass)

19 Sit in a corner mumbling to self about
        hating everyone and everything.
        (Pathetic)

20 Join Storm Bull (Confidence, Dumbass)

From an Orlanthi perspective-
Collapse- wake up 2 day later to discover:
If Male you've joined the cult of Nandan or Yelmalio (Assuming not a member already)
If Female you've joined Vinga or Babeester Gor (Assuming not a member already)

I didn't write it, and I don't work for Mongoose so it's not 'my' product in any way other than I own a copy. It's the only drinking rules I have in my collection so I mentioned it

Oops, sorry, for some reason I assumed that you worked for Mongoose.

But, you're just a normal person like the rest of us.
