Getting Beat To Death

I am beginning to throw my attention on Feats now, and I'm looking at Brawl feat--specifically, the "normal" section.

So...nobody can be beat to death unless their attacker has this feat? That doesn't seem right.

Why is a feat required to do normal damage on a target? You should be able to kick and punch somebody to death. It shoudn't be real easy, but it should be possible--withou he feat.

i look at it like this. if a player beats an npc to negative hit points with subdual damage AND THEN says he continues to beat him past -10 (which would be easy since the guy is basically out cold and can't defend himself) then he's dead as far as i can figure. unless by some miracle. hell, if their was nobody to stop the character, and he declared "i decide to beat him to death", as a GM i would declare the npc beat do death.

of course i would make sure that the player knows everyone who is witnessing his character doing this may think he is some sorta crazy sociopath lol

I was thinking of a mob of 3-5 kicking at someone down, holding their head. How would the rules model kicking this person to death.

Then, there's the freak accidents that happen, as in the boxing ring. I guess the boxer had the feat.

Actually, I think cloven is right. You can with a -4 i believe. Which would be easy to do if you already knocked the guy out. I GMed a large strong guy once that punched a dude in a tavern or something. He hit him once and he had one hit point left and then the character critical hit him for basically max damage that suddenly took the dude to beyond -10. It was an accident. I declared the dudes nose crushed back in his brain and dead. His character got heat from the locals for that one.
I'd assume boxers and mma guys have the brawl feat lol. An mma guy was just killed in the ring recently in south carolina. (or north carolina) That's happened twice now in MMA.
