Gauntlet's Models (Also a Constant Pic Update)

OKAY- some new and old stuff

first off... my recently finished Rippler Bugs... 10 of them

I'll be posting more pics of them when they get used in a battle

Ripplers000.jpg

Secondly; I've been deconstructing old terrain and rebuilding it as better terrain... sort of a consolidation effort...

My Old stuff wasn't bad, but it wasn't very detailed... the tree zones being just one type of tree sticking out of cardboard or foam... with aquarium plants making it worth while... also fake coconut things...

Well using better card board bases, spray foam, my coconuts, the old trees, and new giant fern trees, as well as a hell of a lot more moss and some flowers....

Thats only half of it complete... or rather, 4 of 8 jungle sections... all my aquarium plants, and my re-done super old/sturdy styrofoam ruins...

Here is what remains to be finished (some painting and mossing needed)

Okay and now for some more Jungley Fun.... some pretty bad Pics of the Skinnies my friend uses, I built and painted them for him.

First, a modded skimmer... using a Tau Drone for the base to slot into.

Secondly the Warchief I've shown before that I modded for him...

and finally some blurrish pictures of his army

This is unrelated, but hey why not... My Computer as custom built by my buddy Ben Wright, Compuwares.inc

I just moved into a apartment in Boston, and my L shaped desk has this beauty on it, a lamp and then my miniature workshop... which you can see on that pic of the unfinished jungles.... well hope you've enjoyed!

= Priceless

But seriously feedback on the terrain would be cool too

So it seems I'm wrapping things up for my SST armies...

Arachnids:

Well I can make 5 warrior bugs, using spare rippler arms for arms... those will be nifty eh?

I can make a new tanker... it will use my custom magnetic latching thorny tanker head, and a regular tanker body, but I will be attaching 2 plasma bug wings to it, and using 2 plasma bug legs as giant 'mantis' arms. So that will be interesting!

that brings them up to 180 bugs, and not likely to expand from there for some time.

Mobile Infantry;

Well, I may repaint a ton of squads, but not for a while... I do have a new squad painted up as my silver/goggle eyed troopers, and a new sicon agent or LT. Probablly just keep making characters until I run out of parts lol!

Now I have had a good deal of Tau to rape for parts, and well they have fallen into disrepair, as they are my oldest army... Also SST players may grow scant now that I've moved, so I think I will be rebuilding this army, with the new codex and some new units and such...

why should you care? Well I love cross overs... so I think I will use allot of MI parts and see what can be made... I have several possibillities in mind... such as Exo Suits combined with Tau Battle Suits... and Skinnies converted into Tau Auxillaries... perhaps fire warriors with moritas... lol as well as FW with skinny venerable back packs...

and as SST conversions I think I'll post them here... granted that may seem off topic this being an SST forum, but I don't much care for GW related forums, and well I just like you guys better!

I think the other project will be skinnies... you see I've been painting and building my buddys skinnies for some time now, and I think I'd like my own... but I have an idea for style...

Skinnies = Sand People from Star Wars lol. Lots of raiders, a war chief, some tawn riders, all kitted out for desert wear, and generally being ill equipped or primitive looking. Some refitted skimmers could be cool.

the other other other project is taking some exo suits and making them into very Heavy Gearish models. But i'm not certain where to start on that!

Okay guys, got some new stuff done to show you... firstly let me preface that these photos are taken with the only camera available, which is god awful! Next week i will get good pics, but I couldn't resist the joy of these conversions, I really am happy with them.

First off, some skinny venerable marauders !

Made from 2 venerable back packs, a raider, some random big weapons and radar dishes from Micro Machines Battle of Hoth playset, and the bottom torso/legs of a Tau Battlesuit....

Secondly we have a new tanker, made with some extra parts from my massive queen bug conversion... using an old custom tanker head that magnetically attaches...

THE MANTIS TANKER

And hey I even got to play a game this weekend! first time in 2-3 months... my buddy chris is in it...

Your mantis tanker rocks! I hadn't seen the other pictures of it (jumped straight to page 3) and thought "Hey, that's a cool mantis. Wait.. those look like plasma wings.. and tanker legs.. holy carp that thing is huge!!" Great job as always, very creative.

Have to say this one was allot of fun to make, and it was nice to make a more impressive body for my old thorny tanker proxy head (the rhino beetle turned tanker head)...

Now I have 2 normal tankers, a Mantis/Thorny Tanker, and my King Crab Tanker... lol do love that one, Only been used once, but man was it funny when a Skinny Warchief punched it out of the ground and he reacted by eating the Warchief in one bite!

I'm a little bored so here are basic directions/ingrediants...

1. Thorny Tanker, built up the kit as usual however you like, ignoring the big spiky bits for the back, if you don't have a crazy custom head to try I think the thorny head makes a decent mantis. Notably don't install the mandibles if you do you need them!

2. You will need 2 spare plasma legs (not hard you can build plasmas with less legs and it hardly makes them look less cool.) attach these in arm positions and attach the throny tanker's mandibles as claws!

3. Add two plasma bug wings! Not sure where you have extra ones, I only did because of my Queen Bug... that being said, if you don't put on wings, I think you could add the regular thorny spiky back things without looking silly... might want to try a less mantis like paint scheme if you ask me though... without the wings it just isn't Mantid... more like Super Death Ant

Really simple stuff really....

Ooooh, that's very neat! Great job. I love the fact that it has wings. Are you giving it a jump/12" or hover/12"? :D

I love the conversion possibilities and extra bits in the plastic kits. I'm going to miss them when the prepaints take over.

You'll still be able to with prepaints I would think, or consequently you can still order the old stuff, even when evo is released they said they would maintain the old stuff for special order..

glad you like it.

So I think I'm interested in doing some Blister/Blaster conversions, Galatea gave a very good argument in their defense so i think I would like to add a bunch, and if only because I'm bored and need new bugs (and can't bring myself to work on warriors anymore)

Not to mention I hate wierd numbers like 8... I have 8 custom Blister/Blasters... grrr

So, heres what I am thinking...

take the 'ass' tail of the Blister off and use it on the back ass tail for a Rippler bug, and see if I can make a stinger version of ripplers~ the tail could spray acid, IE acid ripplers?

And for the Blisters them selves, cut off their front snout and attach those jaw claws downward directly from the big round torso... the mouth can either stay or be replaced by vicous numbers of claws and warrior arms... Oh and just ignore the eyes... maybe place rippler mouth claws over them.

The idea is to make it more like the CGI and less like space lobsters.

The Rippler conversion idea sounds great. If only I had an extra box of Ripplers I'd steal it. Maybe I'll start putting all my extra bits onto some plastic flies or wasps instead.

I'm having a hard time picturing the Bli/Blaster conversion concept (even as I'm painting a bunch this morning), but it sounds like a shorter projecting mouth with more teeth/claws which should look pretty good.
