Gauntlet's Models (Also a Constant Pic Update)

Gauntlet-

Banded Mongoose
Well hey everybody, so I plan on posting all further model work I do in this thread, just like Galatea does, notably at the request of Bughunt... this way it will be easy to find my old stuff etc. etc.

So

Entry 1: Classic Warrior Bugs (Movie Accurate)

You can see in the movie that the relative jaw to torso ration, which is roughly 1.25 - that is the torso is 1.25 the length of the top jaw. The creature has tail fins/spikes, only one tooth on the bottom jaw, and the arm claws are significantly bigger and shapelier than the Mongoose version.

So what you need to do:

1. Cut off lower teeth of lower jaw, then cut them in half, and place one back unto the jaw, shave to fit everything.... OR modify an extra top jaw piece.

2. Cut off two leg claws and two arm claws... attach the leg claws to the arms, and cut their tips slightly shorter, then use those tip pieces and glue them to the side of the mouth for the tiny feeder arms that warriors have.

3. Take the torso and cut the rear piece off, then shave/cut roughly a quarter of an inch of plastic away from the torso, then reattach, shaving to make it seamless.

4. Now attach the arm claws to the torso roughly where you cut the back off this will give you tail spikes and cover up your butchering.

5. Cut off the connection nub at the bottom of the torso, and attach the lower hip piece (turtle shell one) and attach directly. You will now have crevices for leg joints... this is because the warrior is more cramped really.

6. Put it all together! The only inaccuracy you could change from here is you could make the rear legs roughly 1.5 times larger than the hind ones... which honestly isn't much worth it.

Entry 2:

Well if your like me, you like to get as much buggyness out of each kit, and while the accurate warriors may leave you with a few less warriors (due to the use of 6 leg claws each) this will leave you with certain odd spare parts... such as ball joints, upper hip pieces and legs with no claws...

Tada- we have a much more affordable cliff mite! Its pretty simplistic, the ball joint goes on top and the legs on bottom.

Entry 3:

Magnetic Head Tanker!

Pretty simple concept, just make yourself a nifty crazy tanker head and a regular one and you can swap to differentiate between thorny and regular

ThornyTanker004.jpg

ThornyTanker003.jpg

Also you can glue sand unto a tanker to get that 'just emerged' feel

And everybody's favorite couple

Entry 5:

Fire Frys

using warrior arms, legs, and hip pieces you can make yourself a awful lot of these little spidery fellas

Entry 6:

Mantis Assassin and Hunter Bugs

The Hunters are easy to make if you want to use warrior parts... just use a hip section as a head and go from there... I made these before they even had officially announced Mantis Hunters... I think some day I will buy the real ones...

ArachnidArmy017.jpg

Now Much later on I decided to make some custom assassin bugs, which I felt could be spider like if only because of the stalking/jumping capabillity

ArachnidArmy018.jpg

The bugs that look like they are doing the vertical frog dance are excellent.

Also, your conversions are very nice and original.

I really like your cliff mites, and I am afraid I will have to rip them off...

Hey glad you like em, feel free to rip off thats why i give directions lol

I did some reformatting of pics on photo-bucket and switched some stuff above, now I should be all set to continue entries... Notably I threw in another pic of the cliff mites for you, as you can see they can be made with clawless warrior arms too!

Entry 7:

Hopper Bugs

The Hopper model is great in my opinion but some people like to replace the legs with warrior legs, I haven't see it done yet but you could totally use Rippler legs too...

Anywho, my only beef is they are missing the stingers from the movie! I was so upset I impaled a Mobile Infantryman!

Entry 8:

Spider Bugs!

Spider Bugs went through allot of versions and notably I'm still not happy with my conversion Version... mind you I don't think the Mongoose version is very good either...

Its okay for now, if only because they are a pretty useless unit in the game...

At least while inventing this conversion I created the Fire Fry conversion which I love! I settled on the blue ones... notably the original version isn't shown here... imagine a 8 legged warrior with no arms, and tiny mandibles going sideways and 8 big round eyes...

Entry 9:

Ahh Blaster Bugs... well I got these little beetle things online they are made of like wire and super hard paper chunk... at any rate I used em for blasters, but since there is only 8 of them possible I will proabablly convert them to workers or nurser bugs and use something else for blister/blasters...

They are cool though because you could have two squads and differentiate via the jaw types.

Entry 10:

Guard Bugs...

Now these buggers are cool, you can just make a warrior with two top jaws, three tail spikes and a full warrior leg for the arms... then add two leg claws for Tusks!

Also they make cool gifts!!

LOL... This is great, really nice to see all your stuff in one thread.

I will admit I totally forgot about the Gallery (Note to reader: Gauntlet mentioned in another thread that all his stuff is in the Gallery), I just expect people to post their works of art in the Forums. Anyway, we don't get the great descriptions and reasoning’s from the Gallery.

Thanks again for posting all of it, keep up the great work! :D

don't thank me yet we aren't done yet...

Entry 11:

Burrower Bugs

Ever wonder what can you do with those spare tanker parts from a thorny tanker kit? Well here is your answer, you'll need more warrior hips and legs to cover the ball joint of the tanker head... I modeled the paint job off of a potato beetle. I need another head so I can make a third!

Entry 12:

Rippler Bugs (woot)

These guys are great, and the best part is they give you a ridiculous amount of extra legs! There isn't a good reason to buggify them more by making them 6 legged IMO so I did... I like the smaller thinner legs for the bottom and the sharp talons on top.

There is so many good paint jobs for these guys it took me a while to decide... also the wing effect took some time (prime Paint wings and then spray super lightly again). Notably I have 6 painted and 4 more to go...
