Games in progress census

Current game has been going on since early December and involves your average motley crew of Traveller characters.

We have a medical doctor who has part ownership (10 shares) of an old type-L lab ship converted into a Free-Trader/Orbiting medical facility. His friend and co-owner (2 shares) is an ex Imperial Navy engineer. They have hired an ex-Agent who worked for the Marquis d'Aramis Ministry of Intelligence as chief of security. Truly evil things can be done with his pocket computer...

They meet up with a Drifter, a Vargr scout and a scatterbrained scientist with a knowledge of "unstable chemicals" who were currently under the employ of a well known genius in the Imperial Navy's Engineering division.

The mission is simple. Get her latest protoype at the naval facilities on Macene (which will someday become the Imperial Depot in the Marches) from Aramis. They are asked to be as inconspicuous as possible (yeah, right...)

So far they have dealt with navigational errors, unruly passengers, terrorists, black operations and of course the fine folks at X-TEK Industries of Deneb, LIC.

Been running a game, must be coming up to about 6 months now, was soon after the intial MGT book came out.

Am about 2/3 of the way through the Traveller Adventure in the Spinward Marches with the 5th Frontier war brewing.

While I'm a seasoned veteran of Traveller, the players are all first time traveller players (with three being first time anything players).

About to start one, as my friend's D&D campaign is coming to a pause. I'll be running this one, with a players who either a) Haven't played Traveller in 20 years or B) Haven't played it at all.

District 268 in 1105 = Cold War Intelligence/Counter-Intelligence/Black Ops.
But who are the players REALLY working for....

I am running a game that started in 1248 in the rim that is morphing into a ATU based on the 3rd breath setting by Brian Daley.

We switched to MGT last year from T20 after the death of on our our principle players, we are soldiering on continuing a 15 year tradition of Traveller.

I am considering opening a second front on the campaign with a alternate crew...

About 4 months now, useing MGT. First Traveller game I have ever ran, though I have played a lot over the years. Set in District 268, started in 1105. FFW will happen on scheduale, but as none of them have ever played before(3), or did not play in the marches(1), they dont know it is comeing. So far they have mostly been running advanced weapons into a small power on a balkinized world. There is a war comeing there, what they didnt realize is that the swordies are doing the same for one of the other countrys.

And they also dont realize who thier main patron is that keeps sending them such good deals that they just cant pass them up.

I've just started running an online game using a virtual tabletop application called Fantasy Grounds. The game is set in the Gateway domain during the Solomani Rim War (c.993). Between them, the PCs own a fair chunk of a modified Beowulf free trader. The last couple of sessions have been introduction. Now the fun starts :)

I'm also running a game in lovely Toronto, Ontario. It's a bog-standard sandbox/free trader game run entirely using MGT materials. If it ain't in the mongoose books then I'm either not worrying about it or treating it as canon.

We have been going strong since November and myself and the players are having a blast.

I've been running a game in a home brewed version of Reaver's Deeps since September or so, we're about 8 or 9 sessions in.

In the past, I've always run mercenary or tramp freighter kinds of games, but this one evolved into a political intrigue sort of game.

I've got an (almost up to date) blog for the campaign here:
Imperial Frontiers

We've got a couple of players new to Traveller and a couple (like me) who hadn't played since the LBB days.

Not playing. And likely ain't gone game no more forever anyway due to lack of players in Fantasy/WoD land (aka Germany)

Now don't go thinking that. Online could be a good option for you.

I'm currently running a game set in the Glimmerdrift reaches in Gateway sector. Three sessions so far and for everyone involved, it's their first Traveller experience.

They have a mysteriously old Far Trader, and are seeking their fortunes on Phelina Main. They have managed to "leave suddenly" from the majority of space stations visited so far, but with only minimal hull damage.

I'm trying to run it as "sandboxy" as possible, but we'll see if I can keep it up.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who digs the Domain of Gateway c.993. :) I have a strange affectation for the Glimmerdrift Reaches and Crucis Margin sectors.

I've got two games on the hoof:

First, I introduced my players to Traveller using Mongoose Trav chargen, and ran a quick little intro adventure by patching together 2 patron encounters from MJD's Patron Encounters ebook (not currently available, sadly.) They have a far trader and in upcoming sessions, I aim to either/both:
1) run MJD's Homecoming adventure (also no longer available.)
2) move them into the Glimmerdrift Reaches and Crucis Margin, where I have various ideas.

Second, I am running a one-off at gamedays intro game set in (drumroll) the Glimmerdrift Reaches. First one is NC Gameday this weekend.

Hi,

Been reading the rules and getting some adventure ideas sorted out for a few months.

Today I ran a game (Prison Planet) with Ken, Paul, Richard and Nicola. They all enjoyed it and we are meeting up again next week to conclude the adventure.

Well, it's official. I've got three players to slap together and play some MGT!

Two guys are totally new to Traveller, one guy rolled a character for T20; never played. I'm excited and nervous. I even have the scenario all worked out. Muhahaha...

Game will be in the middle of February. Maybe I'll do a post-mortem on it here on the boards.

While Fantasy is predominant in the German RPG community (as everywhere, I guess), there are still lots and lots of people willing to play Science Fiction games.

At the Erlanger Spielertage last weekend, almost 50% of the games were Science Fiction. Traveller (the German 13Mann version), Fading Suns, Blue Planet, LodlanD,... , and if I count Shadowrun as SF we easily beat the 50% marker.

Well i am writing a campaign around a salvage crew, for a group, i have i think 4 players, and we'll be starting at the end of Feb.

All have played traveller before, New Era, T20 etc

It's nice to be back in the Traveller Universe ...

Ditto, in Glisten/D268 though this is my first time running an OTU game. I built my own TU in '77-78 with LBBs 1-3 plus my own ship design and FTL rules, and I've been using that until last year, when I switched to MGT and the OTU.

We've had horrible alien creatures, a jailbreak, quest to arm the ship, paranoid Imperial administrators, crooked Imperials and nobles on the make, Luddite attacks on starports, secret agents co-opting the ship, and small planet politicians, cops, and courthouses.

Finally running one, which is actually the Bab 5 campaign from signs and portents.

in initial stages of creating a second which will be a one on one campaign with my other half based around her baron without a barony character. which should be interesting.

also have a vague idea at the moment to write a campaign based around the feudalism and law structure of the Dune series (strict laws/consequences for warfare, limited weapons that sort of thing)

although after speaking to my brother, who also plays MGT and an old hand and Traveller in it's many guises we have started discussing baseing a campaign in the first cylon war of the revamped BSG.
