Gaim rip-off

I asked this question when they first come out:

Never got an answer.......

I think I will just do a fleet and base them all one to a base, using the hex dome bases that RHoG mentions.

I'm building a couple of 5pt raid league fleets and all I am going to do for the gaim fighters is mount 3per base on my homemade triangular flight stands, but not bother with two seperate models to represent the change from fighter to crewed missile. Instead I'll just make some little counters (bright red, or maybe with little skulls, don't know yet) that I can slip between the fighters on a base to represent when they have changed.

In all honesty I think this issue would be best solved with counters as has been suggested. I perosnall havent got even close to enough fighters to completely fill my EA fleet, I use counters for the most part if Im using alot of fighters.

Also people seem to be overlooking one point which is that though the FLEET may contain that many fighters its not acutally all that likely they will all be deployed at the same time (as you deploy them some will die and suicide fighters arent liable to be on the table for long one way or the other ;))

Speaking of fighters, I happen to like the hex bases they are coming with right now, but I have come face to face with a major issue:

How do I secure the fighters to the bases? The holes in the bases are too big.
I was thinking about getting some washers and gluing them inside/under the bases and then glueing the fighters to the washers...

The sad thing is I think I do :D, and total fleet is over 100 fighters. I spent 4 hours last night just clipping flash for Starfuries, for instance

I'm a little confused on the details of this issue... I'm looking at the Gaim fleet list and see (for example) that a Sataaka-class gunship can carry 2 Klikkita flights. Does this mean that when it releases it's fighters, it releases 2 stands of fighters or 2 patrols of fighters (12 total stands)?

By extension, since I am planning to play Minbari, if I take a Leshath-class Heavy Scout, then it can release 1 flight of Fliers. Does that mean 1 stand of Fliers or 1 patrol (4 stands)? This is significant for me since I have a Morshin carrier and I don't know what I need to field it: 8 Nial stands versus 16 stands.

the problem with the green stuff is that it's expensive and to get it to do the job I need it to with these fighter stands takes a LOT of green stuff...

Same with that "blue and yellow, mix it to gray" stuff that GWs Green is based on...
I was rather hoping for a cheaper solution.

I bought some green stuff from TheWarStore.com, in was in a tube, and came with quite a lot for only about $10.00. I bought 3 of them, thinking they came with about the same amount as the GW blisters. They have significantly more, and I've only opened the 1st one so far, and I use a little GS on almost every model I build.

Me too. Not a huge amount but a little green stuff (epoxy putty) on each fighter helps keep them in place.

Have you tried moddelling putty by Revel, I believe that it costs £1-2 a tube.

I'm currently awaiting delivery of the Gaim fleet box set from Mongoose, and I was planning to probably mix the two types of fighters in, then base them 3 to a stand. That will give me 32 stands of fighters to be starting with, which isn't bad.

Litko are producing 19mm hex missile counters in a variety of colours, so I plan to get a couple of packs of these to use when I convert the fighters into missiles.
