Freeway Warrior at RPOL

Zero on the Project Aon boards has developed a set of multiplayer rules for Freeway Warrior, similar to the new Lone Wolf RPG. I'm going to be playtesting the rules in a one-shot game based off of the first Freeway Warrior book (but with my own twists and changes thrown in). I'm looking for four players who are interested in being a part of this and can post regularly.

Not only will it be a lot of fun, but you'll be given credit in the final release of the product, which will be pitched to Mongoose and released in print at best, or made available as a free download at least.

The story is as follows...

The year is 2035, twenty three years since the world ended; fifteen years after the radiation levels subsided enough for the world to begin supporting what life remained on its surface.

In Bend, Oregon, on the West Coast of the United States, a group of people from various walks of life have scratched out a common living together in the cramped lava tunnels underneath Bend. Here they have been protected from the blistering heat of the relentless sun and the worst of the radiation poisoning that still blows with the dry winds in this now arid climate. Occasional raids are made into the nearby city for supplies that keeps everyone fed. More importantly, there is an underwater spring in the tunnels that gives a fresh, if meager, supply of water.

There is a lot of tension in this community, however. Having started out as a community of a dozen people, it has grown as more survivors in the surrounding area have been located to a size of about thirty five. The latest group of survivors were brought in begrudgingly, with an anxious thought towards how long food and water could last. Water went on ration and new survivors were required to make the dangerous raids into the city to prove their loyalty to the community.

Then, just yesterday, it was revealed that five of the younger women in the group are pregnant. At any other time, this sign of life's will to go on might have been cause for celebration. As it is, the thought of the burden half a dozen babies will put on the community has stirred the emotions of the group to a dangerous point.

In the midst of this fervor, four survivors are sent out to Bend on a routine supply run. Little do they know that this run will have great consequence for the community and change its future forever.

I remember this well and have a couple of the books - they were very cool - cars, guns and even a dash of romance IIRC :)

Unfortunatley I don't think I can comit to RPOL but anything else I can do?

Da boss: feel free to head over to the project aon forums where it's being discussed and see if there's anything you'd like to do:

Writing Wolf: it'd be great to have you along! You don't need to have read the books or have access to the books. The rules will be made available for everyone and I'll be walking everyone through the rules as we play, in case they don't have time to read the whole package.

In terms of commitment, I'm looking for people that can commit to posting once a day in character (with exceptions for vacations and emergencies). Because the rules are very easy and simple, this shouldn't be too difficult a thing to hold to.

That's great news. I can't commit to playtesting but I do hope that this goal is realised and we get these multiplayer rules. Freeway Warrior was excellent.

I wonder if Prokect Aon would turn their hand to doing to Way of the Tiger what they did to Lone Wolf? I'd love to see those (also) excellent gamebooks get the PA treatment.

Yeah I'm game for that - I've only ever read the second book and it was pretty good, I can see the universe being a good one to play in.
