[Fleetlist] Dilgar

Batrachian

Mongoose
Hello,

After some years playing B5Wars, I finnaly tried the 2ED and it is not as bad as I thought. :-) But I am a bit undetermined which ships I should field in my next battle which will be around 4Points Raid and against Minbari.

What I thougt might work is:
2 x Jashakar Vi (0.5)
2 x Ochlavita (1)
1 x Ochlavita-Ki (0.5)
1 x Targrath (1)
2 x Rohric (1)

One thougth is to skip the Targrath and take a Garasoch for Fighter support.

My ship selection is a bit limited, because I do not yet own the new ships. (Kahtrik, Mankhat, Omelos)

Any other recommendations?

Best regards, Alex

I'd drop the Ochlivita destroyers, they don't have the firepower to justify their level or the FAPs spent on them. Exchange them for the raid level cruiser or the patrol level frigates. Make sure you have plenty of scouts, too.

Your fleets mainly of the fast assualt varity atm, leaving the Rohrics the odd man out. I'm with David in droppoing the Ochlivitas; drop for Jashakr frigates. I'd similiarily drop the Rhorics in favor of anothe Targrath; squadron up the Targraths and Ohlivita Ki and use thier Pentacon Init thing to ensure they move last. Leave the jashakars as singletons, and keep the Jash Vi's safely out of the way of minbari beams.

Yep Id drop the Ochlavitas for another Tagrath or 4 more Jashakars. Tagraths are still the best ship in the Dilgar fleet imho

Arguable, I'd say it was the Tikrit actually. One of the few cases in 2e were a higher level ship IS actually better than 2 of a lower PL. Loses out on missles, surviabilty, and turns, but its hard to argue with 18AD of Heavy Bolter goodness, with more out the back, and larger and longer ranged Pulsar Turrets

Hum, sad, that the Ochlavitas are so bad, they are good looking ships.

So next try:
2 x Jashakar Vi (0.5)
2 x Jashakar (0.5)
1 x Targrath (1)
1 x Tikrit (2)

The Tikrit really looks great (18AD Bolter ... wooho), but I am a bit concerned, that the Minbari will destroy it very quickly...

Id still take 2 Tagraths over a Tikrit most of the time. Yes the 18AD of boltery doom IS nice but 2 Tagraths can nearly match if for bolter firepower, has only slightly less range on its bolters/pulsars, is faster and more manueverable and between the two of them have twice the missile firepower, and are tougher and carry twice as many Thoruns between them. The aft bolters are ok too but to be honest if your enemy is still there by the time youve folw past then youve done something wrong ;)

Dont get me wrong, the Tikrit is a truly nasty ship but I still think pound for pound the Tagrath is better :)

Even said turkey (the Ochlavita I assume were still talking about) has a fantasticallly useful variant in the Ochlavita-Ki

One of those babies pentaconed with some Jashakars and Tagraths etc gives not only the handiness of the command trait to the whole fleet but also gives that pentacon + to its effective crew quality which is very handy for when 'concentrating firepower' (and as Dilgar you'll be wanting to do that alot ;))

And though its a bit weak the Ochlavita is not THAT bad, its just outclassed by the rest of the fleet/most other races skirmish ships.

I've faced something similar to this and it was really evil.

4 Jashakar Vi
3 Tagrath (all squadraned)

It is truly evil. Just light up targets with the scouts and then let the Tikrits unleash hell.

I have been trying to defeat the Dilgar as of late in a 3 point battle level battle and I am playing Vorlon. My opponite last night put down on the field 2 tikrits and 8 Jashakar scouts. I took 2 Vorlon destroyers and 8 wings of fighters. He blasted both my destroyers by turn 2 with Crits that took out my weapons not that it would have mattered the 8 scouts ended up destroying both of them in turn 2. My fighters did a little more damage I destroyed 2 of his Jashakars and knocked one of his tikrits down to about half. I making head way I usually don't kill any of his ships., But then again i heard the Tikrit is pretty fragile.

Yeah, the Ochlavita is not bad, just suffering the way a lot of ships did in first ed by having siblings that are too good to let it have a moment in the sun.

It is a bit different in play style than the majority of the Dilgar fleet as well.

So, you're better off with a Tagrath

Props to whomever figures out which sig I've paraphrased 8)

I'll be fielding 4 Jashakar Vi, 2 Targraths, 2 rohrics and a garasoch in a tourny this sunday.
I will post my experience with that fleet

Is there another way to deal with Herasy :?: - if so please inform me so I may disucss it with the Concalve and............... of course your seeming familiarity with Herasy

Oh darn! Arco-flagellation. Exterminatus would be far better. Quicker too.

But I suppose we should end the 40k references on a ACTA forum, or we may get in trouble. The Vorlon planet killer might come and destroy us!

Back on topic:
I just remembered that this guy will be facing Minbari. With Dilgar. Other than taking scouts to counter their stealth, what are his options?
