Fleet box querie

Hi guys, I'm looking at placing an order in the near future for my first ships and the rule book (already had a flick through my brother's copy - but I'm now a couple of hundred miles away so 1 copy between us just won't cut it) and was wondering what people thought of the value for money of the large fleet boxes; beyond their obvious financial value, are you liable to use that many ships, etc?

In case it helps I'm thinking Federation and/or possibly Romulans.

I would say yes. It will also allow you more varied fleets. And you aren't likely to be using more than one dreadnought, so squadron box multiples aren't as good.

You might want to add a couple more ships to a fleet box (to have a fast cruiser wolfpack for instance) but I would say they are the best buy.

The squadron boxes are a bit of an odd mix of ships - given the obsession with putting dreadnoughts in every single pack...........

#You cna always seel off your unwated ships and I think you are more likely to be able to sell escorts and cruisers?

Yeah, no one will want three dreadnoughts, everyone will want multiple frigates, light cruisers and fast cruisers.

The fleet box gives you a nicely balanced force. A DN, A BCH, some CAs, CLs and small stuff.

If you are collecting several fleets you can also look to the border boxes when they arrive, there are two border boxes for the Romulan side which contain a mix of Fed. Gorn and Romulan ships plus extras such as merchants. Check

For the contents of the Border boxes. A nice mix of extra ships for both Feds and Roms. Plus you get to start a Gorn fleet as well
