As if ACTASF isn't sucking up enough of my hard earned hobby money, now this! I've always been facinated by naval combat games of all types and I've got a handfull of GHQ 1/2400 and A&A War at Sea miniatures that I've fooled around with over the years, but now these are looking sooooo tempting!

I like the idea that they come already based. It saves a lot of trouble and effort trying to cobble up home made bases for the whole fleet.

Presumably because MGP will be doing oodles of models that you CAN'T get on ebay

First the detail is way better and about the same price, unless you want a rare WAS mini then you pay 4x or 5x the normal cost.
Second the line has died and is far from complete includding more of your important ships, which Mongoose is building all the ships of importance and some not so important.
Third your supporting an active mini line versus the remenants of a dead line.
My note about WAS was that the WAS players wanted to find a place to get all the ships not made for that scale by WOTC for WAS and stuff that was selling for outragious prices to be bought at a fair price.

I myself started with WAS but am using the mongoose ships to fill out my missing ships then over time replacing the ones I have with mongoose's better ships for my fleets.

I believe a lot of WAS players would have happily swapped to the Mongose minis to fill out missing ships, or to get more of the most sought after. Except that alot of the WAS player hate the bases. That simple choice by Mongoose denied them a LOT of business, despite the quality of the minis.

Its always an issue whether to base or not, some peolpe love it some people hate it. Some people who play WAS like not having bases to allow the ships to be thown together in a case but you would not want to do that with resin minis anyway.

Would it be possible to supply the base as a separate part? Those who want the ship on the base then have only to glue it on. Personally I'd prefer a separate base because it would make painting easier - paint the base in sea colour with dry-brushed wave tops, paint the ship's hull grey, then stick them together without ever having to worry that the ship gains unwanted sea coloured camouflage.

No we discussed seperate bases but the bases would create a whole new line of casting since each base is sized to the ships there on. It also makes it easier to cast as one peice.
