Having been a Dredd/2000AD fan since I was 8, although only recently getting back into the wargaming hobby, I picked up a few JDMG figures and the rulebook and played through a basic game the other night - I thoroughly enjoyed it, it really captures the chaotic feel of Mega City One and the Dredd universe.
(Incidentally, the terrain here is literally just tin cans and bits of packing material with some paint slapped on them, plus a couple of Sarissa's excellent MDF gantries. I wanted to get things up and running quickly, and I think it adds to the general scuzziness of the MC1 setting!)
Judges Bryce and Norton on patrol ...
The Sov agent and his hired mutant mercenaries try to infiltrate past, to escape the city.
The assassin takes up position.
Judge Norton spots him ...
...and he dies in a hail of standard execution rounds!
Judge Bryce moves into position.
Meanwhile, Judge Norton takes down another mutant.
Bryce takes aim ...
...and another mutant bites the dust.
In an insane suicidal charge, one of the Cursed Earth desperadoes goes head to head with Bryce.
Unbelievably, he takes the judge down!
Norton takes swift revenge.
Panicking after the death of his mercenaries, the Sov agent makes a run for it.
Judge Norton gets into position ...
...and the job's done.
I played a pretty simplified version of the rules and used my own scenario, but it was a great introduction. An East Meg invasion force and some more street judges are next on the list!
