First ever terrain: vent/generator/scrubber

Here we go. This is the first piece of 'terrain' I've ever created! Hope you like it. I've tried to make it look generic enough to be either a venting system, a power generator or even possibly an air scrubber.

The model is made from two different kinds of air fresheners, a plaster wall rawl plug, the top end of a pen refill and some auto repair aluminium mesh.

Simple, looks cool.
Would be great as part of a full set of terrain. Especially for the lower areas of the Mega City.

Very nice. I agree with Rob A - nice City Bottom detail.

It inspires me to get my finger out and do some of my own.

I'm currently thinking of how to do the very tops of blocks.. a nice chunk of peaked terrain with a dead fall on every side...

It took surprisingly little time to achieve the paint effect too! Either that or I totally lost track of time whilst doing it!

Its great when that happens - sit down for 30 mins painting, and you suddenly notice its 3 hours later, and you've got the entire thing finished :-)

Well, for the sake of speed (and cost), I used auto-primer spray (acrylic) to undercoat the whole thing, blocked in the base colours using 'cheap' artists acrylics (leaving the colours partially unmixed to give a worn/streaky effect), dry-brushed a mix of steel grey and metallic base over the top, then finished it off by using some weathering effects paints (oil, rust and soot).

The whole thing was then given two coats of matt acrylic varnish.
