Fire On The ...doormat

The statements about the revised content are a bit ambiguous - I too thought they would be 'revised' in the sense of extra sections or adding a few extra bits in to existing sections to increase the atmosphere. The statements can be taken like this, but also that the extra bonus adventure in the end is part of this 'new content'.

If someone could clrify on that nes page it would be helpful to people looking to join in on the megadeal.

As I stated in my last post, I am in the US and I have received my book. I live in Missouri and I am a megadeal customer.

As for the books... I think the more flexible paper is the biggest factor for how the books have improved.

And also from my last post... did anyone notice a change in the art from Book 1 to 2?

Well, they are the Project Aon revised and clarified revisions. Several of the rules clarifications and section clarifcations on rules that were made by Project Aon is in the book.

Project Aon also has a number of spelling and grammar corrections which no doubt also are included. As for extra sections, or rewritten sections: no. At least I didn't notice any of those.

I think I might have noticed one :p. In the first edition being robbed by the fishermen involved losing armour and a shield. In the new edition you get to keep the shield. I'm not sure if you had to previously dump it in the water or if the fishermen took it but now you get to keep the shield.

That struck me as a nice little piece of revision.

I think the million dollar question is can you make it through the book without the Magic Spear and without Animal Kinship? :?:

Well.... I gave the spear to Lord Rhygar and had animal kinship (from book 1) so I didn't have a problem. I'll check those sections if you like 'though :).

That was part of the rules revisions. Other parts that are revised to be clearer is how Hunting works in the wildlands, and what items you keep in the storm when you don't go with the fishermen.

There are also notices that you can't bring along Backpack items if you have no backpack.

The overall content of the sections are the same as far as I could tell.

As for the magic spear.

Alas, the book forces you on the path that requires you to have the Magic Spear. You don't get it, then you are dead. (No chance to meet with the Noodnic.)

Do you mean that they have removed the path with the Noodnic?

No, it is the same as the Red Fox edition. (But the first edition of the Books had the sections reversed. Basically this revision doomed you if you gave away the spear.)

However, for this Book you must acquire the Magic Spear, since you must have the Magic Spear to be able to give it away.

If you don't have it you will not meet the Noodnic either, and thus you won't survive.

I actually got mine two days before FFTD. The weird thing being that FFTD was actually delivered two days earlier

you know I pre-ordered my copy of Lonewolf #2 a month ago and am just soo happy that everyone already has there copy and is posting comments about it. The same thing happened with my Babylon 5 books as well as my Lonewolf #1. In fact I had to email the sales department a couple of times to remind them that I hadn't recieved it yet. It makes me wonder why I bother pre-ordering anything from these guys. Isn't the point of pre-ordering something so that you are one of the first ones to get it? Or is the point of pre-ordering just so I can part with my money sooner??

Did you mean that you only pre-ordered on a per book basis? There are quite many pple who pre-ordered the mega-deal and maybe those would be served first. (I ordered as late as early Oct and still managed to get the books around end Oct/ early Nov)

Yes this is one of the hardest books, is written so that you must find the spear though if you give it to Rhygar you must have Animal Knship. Don't want to spoil too much but at 150 turn left to 261.

Ok, got it. That is really mean that you only get the spear with a single set of decisions. Dever could have changed that easily in the new edition.

Yep. However, if you look on the map at the front you can see to take the left fork as the right one doesn't go anywhere (leads into the Rymerift).

I don't know if it was written intentionally like this, but it works for me!

Of course it also means you must never listen to the Szalls either which seems a bit dumb of Lone Wolf.

Just realised this thread has been going for about 2 and a half years. Can't be many threads in forums active after that length of time!

I think I've read the Mongoose release of Fire on the Water 3 times - and the original twice since then!
