Fighters - Hyperspace query

As with my previous post, I have asked the same question on the ACTA forum page as well...

If fighters count as ships for a lot of rules in the game, can I count 5 independently bought flyers towards my ship total when calculating half my fleet allowed to be kept in Hyperspace?

So, if i've got 4 Tinashis, a Leshath, a Torotha and the aforementioned flyers; can I put all the Tinashis and the Torotha in Hyperspace (if the scenario allows)? 8)

Yep, ships is ships. The fighters section says fighters are always counted as ships unless explicitly stated otherwise.

The reason that the question came about was because, in our current campaign, we had a 2pt Skirmish "Space Superiority" battle rolled up between my Minbari - I took a Teshlan, as my Torotha's had already been used in another battle - and a League fleet - he had a Drazi Eyehawk, Jumphawk and a wing of Falkosi (6 flights).
Even before we set up, my opponent informed me that the Falkosi would be deployed as normal, but the two hawks would remain in hyperspace until the penultimate turn, when they would Initiate Jump Point and come in on the last turn to grab whatever sections of space hadn't been seized by the Falkosi flights... which, as the scenario states, can count when grabbing sections of the table.
He was suitably contrite at virtually giving me no chance to compete in, let alone win, the battle, but the tactic got me thinking... hence the question! 8)

Can we get an official (ie Matt ;)) answer please? No offence Burger, but I think the issue is not so much a case of what the rules say but rather whether the wording was an oversight left over from 1st ed when fighters werent 'ships'.
