B - Aliens are real, the government is (choose 1: in cahoots; controlled by; replaced with) them and they deny, deny, deny. It's a big cover-up where everything is weather balloons, mass delusion, clouds, ball lightning, top secret aircraft, etc. etc.

Personally, I don't believe any government has the competence to run this sort of cover up campaign without something coming out in the way of evidence. I am comforted by the general incompetence of large organisations. Because of this, I'll go with option A.

To me, something like this could give ideas on how locals on an interdicted world might react to a stray spacecraft unexpectedly showing up, etc. As such, it seems like an interesting topic of discussion for this board to me.

Their contact procedures need an overhaul though, because they keep getting caught in the act

Back in the real world, if UFOs are indeed aliens spaceships then it does at least provide and answer to the Fermi Paradox ('where is everybody ?') - they are already here !
