Failed SA Attempt and still Launch Fighters?

If you attempt and fail a special action (say for example: CAF), can you still launch a fighter? Or is the attempt itself enough to prevent you from launching?

Thanks!

I'm 97% sure there was a ruling that if you failed your CQC for a SA then you could still launch Fighter Flights.

97% huh?

I need precision man! Give me 100%

Seriously, thanks...that we think as well.

That is correct. If you fail a special action attempt, you do not actually perfom a special action - therefore other things are possible such as launching fighters or scouting.

Unless I'm missing a vital sentence somewhere, you can scout now even if you are on a special action.

Yeah, Scouting is not a special action.
So if I "Concentrate All Firepower!" and fail the check, do I still have to shoot at the ship I selected exclusivly?

What about Run Silent, where it specifically states that if you fail, the action's restrictions still apply?

it talks about performing a special action so if you fail your come about roll or some other SA you didnt perform it.

You are correct. I hadn't noticed that restriction was gone.

No. There are no restrictions. You have failed that SA, so you are in no way on it. Similarly, if your ship takes a 'No Special Actions' critical before it fires, it will lose the restriction.
