Failed SA Attempt and still Launch Fighters?

If you attempt and fail a special action (say for example: CAF), can you still launch a fighter? Or is the attempt itself enough to prevent you from launching?

I'm 97% sure there was a ruling that if you failed your CQC for a SA then you could still launch Fighter Flights.

100% yes you can launch fighters if you fail and SA as the only stipulation is that you are not on an SA.

That is correct. If you fail a special action attempt, you do not actually perfom a special action - therefore other things are possible such as launching fighters or scouting.

So if I "Concentrate All Firepower!" and fail the check, do I still have to shoot at the ship I selected exclusivly?

You are correct. I hadn't noticed that restriction was gone.

No. There are no restrictions. You have failed that SA, so you are in no way on it. Similarly, if your ship takes a 'No Special Actions' critical before it fires, it will lose the restriction.
