Extra CA for Quarterstaff?

Quarterstaff: A simple staff, sometimes banded with metal at either end. In the hands of a skilled user, it is a fast and effective weapon for both offence and defence and can be hidden in plain sight as a shepherd’s hook or simple traveller’s walking staff.

From it's description would a Quarterstaff qualify for an extra CA in the same way sword & shield get an extra CA?

Rules don't cover it IIRC - personally I would give a an extra CA if used 2HD but not when being use din one hand.......so it may vary for situation to situation

I wouldn't. I've trained with staff a few times, and in reality (at least from the training manuals I've seen) they're used almost exactly like 1½-hand swords.
I've also tried using them "Robin Hood"-style, and it is doable and akin to two-weapon fighting.. however, the reach of the weapon should then be significantly reduced as much of the staff is used as pivot-leverage, instead of adding reach.

If you do this, your players are quite likely to realize that a short
spear used with two hands is just a quarterstaff with a blade at
one end and a point at the other, not to mention other polearms
like the halberd - and the combat styles to use such weapons in
this way did indeed exist in the real world ...

I'm inclined to agree with dan. You need to keep in mind that the range given assumes you're not using it that way, and that if you are using it double-ended, the range should be shorter. *like a shortsword in range

The question then also becomes: How often can they switch between double weapon style and reach weapon style? Is Switching a combat action of its own? These are questions you need to figure out.
