can a ship escorting fighters within 8", give fighters the antifighter trait,
before they are engaged in a dogfight? i.e they do not engage but are engaged whilst within 8" of an escort which gives them its AF dice.
Yes, this one's come up a few times before. Ships with the Escort trait can give AF to fighters (and Centauri ships with Guardian arrays can also give interceptors). It works just like any other fighter with AF: once all fighter movement has been completed you may use AF before dogfights occur.
I know, I was referring to fighter on fighter only. I've edited my post to be more clear. Does remind me to bring up the point that fighters in a dogfight for more than one turn cannot use AF on fighters already dogfighting them or joining in the dogfight later.
