End of line sale observation

Delthos

Mongoose
I suspect that Mongoose's order system increments their order numbers by one for each order, maybe by twos as I don't have any odd numbered orders. With that in mind and taking into consideration that all the orders they received during this time were not only of B5 ships, they received a staggering amount of B5 orders.

Looking at the order numbers for my four orders between Feb 22 and March 27, there is a range of 78,678 between the first and fourth order. I don't remember when the announcement for the end of line sale started, but assuming the orders started out slow and picked up steam as they got closer to the April 1st date and there were probably a large number of last minute orders after the 27th, they most likely received well over 40,000 (maybe 80,000) orders in about one and a half months. If the average of those orders were in similar numbers to what I ordered, averaged about 50 ships and fighter bases per order, and lets say 30,000 of those were for B5 ships, you start see why they are so far behind on orders.

That is in the neighborhood of 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 ships/fighter bases ordered! I really suspected they were going to have really large orders, but I hadn't really sat down an looked at it until today when I was inquiring about by shipping address.

Now I'm just speculating with all this, but I wonder how close I actually am to their numbers?

Myself and the guy's i play with (Acta that is) placed around 3 or 4 orders each (there's 6 of us regulars and 3 occaisionals).
All told it probably came to at least £2.5-£3k total.
I know my total was over £200 plus £80(ish) via E-bay and £300 from my LGS (with a huge discount so it should have been more).
And i'm still buying so it will get worse (for my bank account).

Have you ever noticed how if a dedicated gamer stopped gaming he (or she, Mustn't forget people like Derina (and maybe others) would on paper at least have loads of spare cash. Yet if you stop buying stuff you still seem to have NO spare cash......Hmm...Maybe there's some kind of gamers karma

Well, I'm just hoping I get my order at all.

I placed an order with my game store when the announcement was made. Several weeks later, my game store told me my order cleared customs. Around the last week of March, I send an e-mail to Mongoose to discover that the order was never placed.

They were top-notch in getting in touch with the game store owner and taking care of it, stating to them and me that it would be sent right away.

I just hope I get it...

I heard from unnofficial sources that ACTA stuff sold more since the announcement than the whole of the previous year (maybe more)
This could actually be the basis of a superb business strategy. 2 months per year, or maybe every 2 years, mongoose opens production of ACTA mini's, demand easily flies through the roof, making the costs of the factory hire or whatever completely viable, and Mongoose keeps the ACTA line flowing.

If the volume of sales is that great I wonder how long it will take to work throught them all. We could be in for a long wait for our last orders.

We are currently looking at about a month or so. US and Canadian customers will be looking at a slightly faster turnaround (simply because of where our forge is!).

No worries, I figured the workload for the forge must have gone through the roof.

@Da Boss. I saw these for real last time I was in Japan. They can be a bit alarming.

So in an amount similar to me. Between Mongoose and some other vendors I spent right around $1,000 US, or just about £500 at the current exchange rate. In any case I think more were like this than less.

But this thing has one of the worst insect stings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraponera

Those beetles are whoppers, but they are pretty mellow temperament wise. The giant hornets are huge and aggro!!! I thought the one that seemed to take offence at my presents wasn't going to give up until it stung me.

beetles are not that problem...beautiful animals this hercules or atlas beetles....BUT Hornets!?!?!?
