Elric Rune Magic

Just a quick question re the duration of vocalised Runes in the Elric game. I think they last 1 hour for each MP invested in them regardless of the Runes other effects. So, if I wanted a Rune of Protection to provide 3AP, I would vocalise it spending 3 CA and 3 MP and it would last 3 hours. That's right isn't it?

Just re-read the Runecasting chapter. I'm incorrect. It's X# MP for the runes effect and 1 hour duration and 1 additional MP for each extra hour. In the example above that would cost 5MP and 5 CA on a successful Runecasting roll.

Can anyone answer the following questions or do I need to make it up? I would like an official answer if possible to keep everything square. Thanks in advance.

When casting the Heat Rune on a 2 litre pot of water would 1MP bring it to boiling point? If not how may MP's would it require? Or if it does how much water would 1MP boil? Would it be a similar volume to the Elemental Runes?

No idea, though from the text of the Heat Rune I would suggest you would need a minimum of 2MP. 1MP only makes the caster or object 'warm' to the touch so I doubt that would be sufficient to boil water of any volume, at best it (1MP cast on a pot) may be enough to melt snow or small amounts of ice to provide drinking water.

I think you're probably going to have to make a ruling, perhaps you could use the damage progression where the xDx is equivalent to the volume of water to be heated? So 2 MP is 1D2 damage which would equate to 1-2 litres of water and it would take an hour (the Runes duration). Further MP spent would reduce the time perhaps?
