Elric Rune Magic

Cosmic Mongoose
A very simple question:

Could the Water rune, when stacked with the man or woman rune, be used offensively to dehydrate a person?

I was thinking it could be done with the subject making an opposed Resistance vs Rune skill test. If the subject succeeds they become extremely thirsty and suffer a level of fatigue for every 1d3 rounds they don't drink. After a number of hours = to the MP invested the effect wears off. On a fail, well they slowly wither and die as all the moisture is sucked from their body, to pool around their dessicated corpse.

Comments?

Sounds completely apt for the genre. Personally I'd tie the damage inflicted to the MPs invested - perhaps 1 HP to all locations per MP invested. Or as a fail safe I'd make the withering death take a few rounds to give others a chance to intercede. The latter is open to abuse against big creatures but sorcery (especially creative use of sorcery) is supposed to be nasty in Elric.

Yeah, OK. Make it like the Dissolution Rune. Good idea Pete.

  • GM: Dragar, the Pan Tangian mumbles behind his summoned pets. His hands are tracing arcane gestures...he shouts the last syllable of his Rune...And his hand closes into a fist, squeezing...
My Rune casting is successful with a 76, Mick. Make a Resilience roll for Bruno.

Mick: Great, whats he doing? Oh crap, 50-bloody-4.

GM: Bruno, you feel an unwelcome, ghostly touch on your chest and begin to sweat - blood. You feel your body withering... lose 3HP to all locations, your armour doesn't protect you... John, it's your CA, what do you do? The sorcerer is still squeezing his fist as he starts laughing...

Heh , that's a pretty good description..

*makes a mental note to use it in an Elric scenario one day* Muhahaha...

Feel free. I should've type "insert maniacal laughter" after the last sentence.

Hmm.. or possibly there is a Rune connected with Blood ?
Mmmm, might have to think on that one...*edit* I don't belive there is in any of the rulebooks, though it would certainly be appropriate to any cults relating to Duke Teer! *edit*
