Electronic 2300AD version?

While waiting for the dead tree version, I wonder if we will be able to purchase a pdf too sometime soon? I have a lot of rule sets for various games on my Ipad, and I find that very useful for a number of reasons.

The PDF usually comes out about a month after the book.

But sometimes it can be hard to wait that long

Slightly off topic, but it seems that people are keen to buy stuff in PDF format rather than print these days. Is this indicative of a real shift within the industry? Is the growing availablility of the iPad and other cheap tablet computers encouraging people to use PDF's at the game table?

Pre-iPad I liked PDFs for supplementing the utility of books. Now, with the iPad, a PDF's aesthetic often matches its utility. Beautiful PDFs look beautiful on the screen, often startlingly so.

Of course. Why carry around a stack of heavy books when you can have all of the files stored on a device you were probably already carrying around anyway? And with the benefit of being able to run a search of a document to find what you need, instead of flipping through a book, there is even more good reason to use electronic copies.

That makes perfect sense. I've also got the issue that I've collected way too many RPG books over the years and am running out of shelf space. My wife has threatened me with extreme pain if we ever have to move house again due to the difficulty of packing up my collection. So PDF is looking more attractive all the time!

Easy fix, pack the wife first then she doesn't have to worry about packing your collection.

PDF:s on Pads generally rock, yes. One thing, though, while probably very good for printing, PDF is a truly crappy file format for electronic display (no resizing etc.). Therefore I frequently find that I have to scroll pages left, right, and center. I think that this inhibits use at the moment. When publishers start editing manuscripts to fit a Pad screen size, there will be no reason to buy a dead tree version.

Edit: yes, you can zoom in and out, but you cannot realign stuff dynamically to e.g. keep text the same size etc.

Is there any possibility of including colour versions of some of the illustrations (deck plans and renders for example) in the pdf version? I suspect I know the answer but if you don't ask you don't get.
