EFTF vs PLA AAR - sort of

Last week I had chance to play a game of BFE in my FLGS against as novice player as myself, although I think he had considerable experience in WH40K opposed to my almost no experience with minis games. As I didn't have time to make any notes, not to mention take pictures, this AAR is quite chaotic but then again that's war...

EFTF (me) forces (one Challenger II + 2 x infantry section) had orders to move to and secure some obscure Finnish town near Russian border after PLA had run over the Russian and was trying to open a norther border against EU.

The task force commander sitting in the tank was not a happy camper. He was told to secure this town that was already bombarded to ruins by PLA and he couldn't even pronounce the name that was on the map. He had seen the last refugees from that or some other village nearby. The village was next to an important road that could not be allowed to fall to the hands of PLA.

He drove further in to the ruined town while infantry sections protected both flanks spreading to fire teams. Challenger had just driven to a corner when the commander spotted Type-99 and what looked like infantry movement. Quickly he buttoned up and gave an order to shoot at the enemy tank that exploded to a ball of fire from a direct hit. After that things began to get tricky.

PLA advanced to cover some even climbing to second stories or to roofs to have better line of sight. Challenger advanced to a ruined house and began to pepper PLA infantry and taking one hit from those pesky RPGs.

Brits' left flank quickly began pinned but they managed to keep PLA busy just being there. In the meanwhile right flank tried to outflank PLA troops but unfortunately one fireteam found themselves running in the middle of clear ground when huns noticed them. Only lance corporal and grenadier managed to reach the cover.

First fireteam of the right flank was in position of one ruined house and when corporal noticed the massacre of his troops he began to yell at his Minimi gunner that soon composed himself and began to put lead downrange quickly wiping out the PLA soldiers who had killed his friends.

Finally Challenger got his sights correctly and systemically started to drop enemy RPG gunners and other soldiers until they began to retreat.

This time EFTF was victorious but with a great cost. Break point was only about two soldiers away for EFTF but the line held and PLA could not maneuver to flanks of Challenger II.

Comments: I think that second fireteam from the left was wiped out completely or very nearly so. The game runs quite smoothly and will run even more quickly when players have good grasp of how the mechanics work (and remember all the abilities of their troops). A good game now I can't wait to get a chance to test my USMC troops in the field.
