EA omicron light cruiser and vorlon frigate

Ah thats my point - they have already done it with most factions (about 10-12) so why not with the others - I can more agree with the not all having Armagdeon level (for instance for Raiders) but the Vorlons and Shadows for instance should have equivalent choices not heavily weighted in favour of one fleet? :)

Usually, the mightiest is brought down by a bunch of the smallest. The Japanese Battleship Yamato is a classic real life example.

In the case of Vorlon and Shadows, alas I'm no ACTA gamer... But, I think we've all seen that a Vorlon transport can shred a Battlecrab to pieces in the show (okay, maybe a small one). But the Shadows exist in far superior number.

My point is this: this kind of balance may have not been represented correctly in terms of game points, and certainly not in actual price of the miniatures. It's understandably hard to do.

No surprises that yet another EA ship is going to be made..........

What happened to everybody else???

I'm with those who feel every fleet needs at least one ship at every priority level, except Armageddon. They don't need more than one, but at least one.

yep...mean that.too. one ship at every level. and this one ship must be good and balanced. more or other ships or variants at the same level are then an nice addition...but the ONE balanced ship at every level is very important. i understand it, game balancing is really difficult with this huge number of fractions and ships. the best example is the Demos...1ed to weak, now 2ed to overpowered. really difficult.. :?

Ummm.....the problem with your logic here is that the Japanese did not only build Yamato class Battleships. They built CA's, CLs, DD, patrol vessels, subs, and carriers as well. Besides, what sunk the Yamato was hordes of aircraft with bombs and torps with essentially minimal air defense given the extinction of the Japanese Army and Naval Air Forces and a lack of fuel to allow the Yamato the ability to maneuver.

ok its an problem but please back on topic...
and i have an other question about the "possible" new ships, especialy this EA omicron light cruiser: what priority level would it be??? raid?

My thought would be a true raid level hull to replace the hyperion

yep. something that looks more crusadey as well hopefully :D

ah...your guys know something more....?!?!?
hope it looks good when it is an "next gen" hyperion.

not that we see something like the myrmidon. i hope not....

In my opinion, the EA just needs several new Skirmish choices, and 2-3 more Raid choices. I hope this light cruiser is a Raid level, personally.

That myrmidon model also needs scrapped, it's awful.
I'd almost use the Chronos model for it & find a something to sub for the chronos.

Yamato would have sunk at full health if US did single it out earlier and dump 1000 planes on it, but point taken. Not very relevant to the Shadow-Vorlon problem.

I only meant it as an example how small and fast vs big and strong (at the same total cost) is won by the very small. Most people wouldn't understand the "zergling vs siege-tank" analogy...

Shadows didn't only build fighters, and Vorlons didn't just build cruisers. Just like Japan and US, German and UK. But the shadows do rely on number to match the Vorlon's superior quality in the series.

Back on topic:
Isn't there a Hyperion in the Crusade EA box? Wouldn't be an overlap if the Omicron show up at the same level?

You may well be right :) But the fleets seemed similar in size in the (nearly) final battle?

If you are right its ironic its actually reversed in the game! or that may be the point you are making ? :)

the hyperion is available in the crusade era, however it just doesn't seem to fit the fleet design, and looks very out of place with the crusade era ships.

Dave

I don't think the Mymidon is a bad model, it just doesn't fit with any of the EA fleets. It really doesn't fit with any B5 fleets for that matter. It looks more like it would be right at home in the Star Trek universe though.

However it works well when you give the command "Jaffa, Kree"

I am really hoping its a test for a Stargate fleet - that and / or a Farscape ACTA suplement would make my day :)

Don't forget that the death cloud conceals a great many ships inside

Quantity over quality is pretty obvious. Lightning cannon zap a crab, fine. Vorlon cruiser have shields, OK. But a transport taking out a battlecrab, come on! I went like OMG  watching that scene (Interludes and examinations).

Well, I'm not a ACTA gamer, just a model collector. I havent buy any Vorlon or shadow ships yet... (Shadow parts I use to make hybrid EA). Is it really that way in the game? Shadows more expensive in points? That doesn't sound right.

About Hyperion: retire, old ones. You've done enough...

About Omicron: who do you guys think build it storywise? Karmatech (Hyperion) or Rocketdyne (Nova, Omega, Warlock).
It would be nice to see a blue/grey ship of Karmatech design again. Hope they're not bankrupt.

Yeah well you can get 2 transports for the smallest Shadow ship (scout) and 3 Vorlon fighters for every 2 Shadow Fighter - mad really :) especially as the Shadow fighters are sooooo dire!

Apparently there are good in a horde but you can't afford it and if you did they would still probably be out numbered!

Ah well I just love the Shadows too much :D
