The thing I think people are missing here is this: the T'Loth is an assault ship, not a battleship. It's not meant to go toe-to-toe with the other races' heavy hitters and give as good as it gets, it's meant to transport ground troops to an assault and deliver them into action.

The same goes for the Secundus cruiser in my own (glorious) Centauri fleet. It's not a battleship, that's what the Primus is for. I'd only take a Secundus if I was doing a planetary assault mission, and if I was playing Narn, I'd leave the T'Loth at home and use it for planetary assaults only. Yes, both ships have their uses in a fleet engagement, but you're forcing a square peg through a round hole when you field them that way.

exactly. LD gets a case of brivari! :D

Those ships were put in specifically for use in actions where you'd want to board/assault worlds

if they were as good a battleship AND had extra troops etc you'd not bother with the regular ships!
