Sounds great so far. This is exactly what I would like to see from the 2nd age Glorantha stuff. :D

You cannot know the full weight of my intense relief at seeing those two sentences. I was fretting the first reply to my 'admission' would be somewhat less friendly. Thanks, dude. :)
Count me in the positive column also, and I am as old a RuneQuest/Glorantha player as they come (almost). Your take on the Magic book sounds very interesting. If the Second Age stuff looked just like the Third Age, then why bother? Now, I will definately need the other stuff (non GL and EWF cults) for my game, but I am accustomed to being outside the mainstream and I don't expect it to be that much of a problem. There is always the Cults book to fill in the gaps...

Thanks again,

I genuinely appreciate the positive responses here. Genuinely. I'll post something teaser-ish from the God Learners or Dragonlords when I get the chance, though obviously it'll be a few paragraphs of snippet-stuff, rather than anything massively detailed.

NDAs rule my freedom of speech, I'm sad to say.

It's sort of like the 'end of the world' vibe in Stormbringer, but not as extreme. We could always do alternate endings, like have the Godlearners 'win' or the EWF succeed... ...but that would be the end of the world as humans know it, I guess. Well, anyway you know what I mean. The setting can be your own, canon does not have to be followed, and the world of the third age from earlier RQ doesn't have to be. If I am offending anyone's sensibilities about Glorantha, forgive me.

Thanks again,

Just wanted to add, this is emphatically seconded. The previews I've seen are making me very excited indeed about the upcoming releases!

I can't think of higher praise at this point DBC...

That's how I run my games. When play starts, the future timeline is just one way things could go.

In my game the Invasion of Sartar hasn't happened yet, and one player character is a member of the Household of Death (children pledged to Humakt to defend the country, with Heroic levels of power), and another is a Strategos (general) of the Lunar army (lot's of characters in the game, in several different player groups).

I'm quite interested in seeing how it's all going to turn out.

While I would hesitate to let Jrustela or the EWF win, there are lots of ways people can escape destruction and win by returning.

Take the EWF: while the grand scheme was doomed to failure, some of the EWF factions recognized that, and the "Here and Now Dragons" mentioned in King of Sartar may well have succeeded in taking their own communities into dragonhood. I would guess that a fair portion of the true dragons at the Dragonkill were successful EWF transformations.

Take the God Learners: Their original goal - to define the monotheistic creed of the Malkioni - succeeded, and most of the later Malkioni built upon their findings. Their RuneQuest-Sight failed when the world changed its rules. But the secrets stolen from the Arkati were carried on by so-called "neo-Stygians", who were little else but God Learners shamed into re-establishing Arkat (or trying to) in Ralios.

Last, the Gloranthan cosmology knows so-called "short worlds" - not quite otherworlds, but portions of the Middle World which can be accessed only across a barrier. The Hidden Castles and Hidden Greens are one manifestation, but other such "fairy" places may exist, and may even house entire cities of Jrusteli who managed to escape the Waertagi revenge. Just like there were Waertagi who managed to escape Zzabur's Closing (as revealed in the fragment "Aftal the Waertagi", published in "Missing Lands").

As a hard core Gloranthan, I would have been very disappointed not to see this stuff. As long as the magic of the "normal people" like e.g. the Orlanthi remains playable (and, in the climactic battles at Machine City, able to counter the Zistorite stuff - just barely), the 2nd Age game couldn't do without these.

I'm curious how Errinoru and his special elf magics will be treated - is this a separate book/campaign ark?
