Diseases Afflicting Aliens

Several discussions have touched on diseases that might afflict alien species. The recent discussion about the Aslan aisai, or 'dewclaw', gave me another idea.

Airukhlakte: A biological infection of the aisai, its sheath, or the tissues of the palm of the hand. There are several diseases that can infect an Aslan's hand but these are all grouped into one definition. The original disease stemmed from a male's aisai cutting into carrion and then not washed properly, causing an infection. If not treated promptly several of the associated diseases may infect the bone tissue, causing 'claw rot'. Aslan culture typically regards an Aslan male with one of these diseases as shameful or stupid... rather like modern Terran human society treats someone with a 'social disease'. It's viewed as entirely preventable by the simple act of washing. This is not always the case, but the social prohibition remains. Oddly enough, females to not suffer such stigmas.
[I came up with the name of the disease using the 'Solomani and Aslan' Trokh glossary:
Ai, from aisai, the Aslan dewclaw
Rukh, from rukhta, deeds of no redeeming value or honor, that which is not acceptable
Lakte, two randomly generated syllables.]

Love it!

I would further suggest that the term might be used as slang for actual venereal disease. As well as "Aisai" maybe used as slang for... well, you know. ;)

"Haven't seen your brother around much lately."

"Er... yeah. It's a bit embarrasing actually..."

"Oh. 'Claw Rot' again?"

"Mmmm-hmmm..."

"That boy needs to be more careful where he sheaths his Aisai..."

I've been barked at some commentators on this board about sexuality issues, so I 'soft soaped' it.
That, and my wife mentioned that I really need to clean up my language. I'm apparently using the word 'fuck' for punctuation again :D
