I think that's the big issue here.
When SST ver 1 "died" last year, it seemed that Matt did his very best to tell us that SST EVO would be bigger, better, and well worth the 6-month delay that we were facing from the end of releases of SST. We'd be getting figures painted better than 90% of us could paint, we'd be getting the fliers and dropships that people had been clamoring for since the very first SST releases, we'd be getting new armies and new options for existing ones.
Even as one game was dying, it seemed the phoenix would rise and we'd be happy to have it.
The delays have lengthened. Now it seems that we are on indefinite hold.
There are those that will point on that the models we have now are perfectly good and the SST ver 1 rules are perfectly good and remain playable. But do I speak only for my own group that perception is everything? I haven't played a single game of SST since the announcement. I haven't even looked at my figures, or the books. The announcement of SST:EVO basically convinced me that what I had now wasn't as good as it could be, and I listened.
So it's disappointing. This is beyond "slippage" at this point. This is being told the bill of goods we were sold last year aren't really attainable, but until they are.... wait.
