Disappointment

I think that's the big issue here.

When SST ver 1 "died" last year, it seemed that Matt did his very best to tell us that SST EVO would be bigger, better, and well worth the 6-month delay that we were facing from the end of releases of SST. We'd be getting figures painted better than 90% of us could paint, we'd be getting the fliers and dropships that people had been clamoring for since the very first SST releases, we'd be getting new armies and new options for existing ones.

Even as one game was dying, it seemed the phoenix would rise and we'd be happy to have it.

The delays have lengthened. Now it seems that we are on indefinite hold.

There are those that will point on that the models we have now are perfectly good and the SST ver 1 rules are perfectly good and remain playable. But do I speak only for my own group that perception is everything? I haven't played a single game of SST since the announcement. I haven't even looked at my figures, or the books. The announcement of SST:EVO basically convinced me that what I had now wasn't as good as it could be, and I listened.

So it's disappointing. This is beyond "slippage" at this point. This is being told the bill of goods we were sold last year aren't really attainable, but until they are.... wait.

We definately need a Mod who can stick all these threads together.

I'm slowly getting sick of all these whiners opening their own cry-thread.
I don't like Evo nor all those delays, too, but I don't spam every forum with that.
One topic is enough, if you don't like Evo or the delays then stick that into that one goddamn thread already opened.

I also think that we need to keep all of the posters complaining about the posters who are complaining in one place.

:)

You've got to keep it civil, I've criticised the negativity, but attacking people just turns the whole forum into a warzone.

Maybe there should be a seperate board or something for it that gets purged automatically every ten minutes.

:D Well I think I got my thread in first lol.

But seriously, if people dont like it, don't post. Eventually, once everyones gotten it out of their system, the threads will shift downwards won't they?

This is just dissapointed fans fo the system venting some bile. If they care enough to be pissed off that Mongoose is putting it on hold for the forseeable future, they obviously like the system, and in all liklyhood they'll still be around once they've calmed down.

And for all the people posting that tired cliche of 'Its bad for the system if we let the negs say anything', get a grip. I figure new players of SST should be forewarned of Mongooses... less than reliable nature when it comes to releases.
I had a bit of a look over at the BF:E forum and it looks like thats going to explode into something far worse than whats going on over here, its when people aren't saying anything at all that you really have to worry!.
And hey, at least our game was semi complete before it was put on hold.

I'd say SST is pretty well complete, excepting the fleet landing party and air assets models for the MI and worst case you use the cardboard counters* in the original game box for the dropships and tac fighters :P

*Someone I used to game against had once mused about taking the cardboard stand up Dreadnought from the 40K 2nd edition game to a Games Day in the US just to get a rise out of them. We joked about turning it sideways so it could hide behind a single tree trunk.

Didn't knew they were ever made.

The funny thing? Nor did I, until I turned up a box of the guys (and a few other bits and pieces) the other day while hunting for the scissors (an eternal pursuit in this office)!

You are kidding right?-)

You wouldn't happen to have several test boxes of aircrafts for SST(with contents of course :D) as well lying somewhere

Though what does it matter...You in England, me in Finland.

Now if only some of those guys turned up in an outgoing postal box, such that they might find their way in time to be present at Mongoose's GenCon booth. And if you can't find scissors, I'll gladly send you a pair in exchange. I'll throw a stapler in the mix for free.
