Mongoose
Hello, this is my first post. I'm not a lurker - just visited the forum for the first time yesterday.
Nothing wrong with existing and upcoming plotlines, except having usually running home brew worlds - WR, is very much like a campaign idea I shelved back in 2nd Ed days. With the existence of WR, old ideas are dusted off and new ones popping in my head.
Shraga's Insurrection - General Shraga is a shrewd and calculating goblin, a paragon actually, from the borderland areas between the Wild Lands and northwestern Dardarrick. Through press gangs and charisma, Shraga is building a frighteningly organized army of guerella goblin forces trying to establish a goblin state.
This campaign is loosely based on the US/Viet Nam War in that an oppressed people (goblins, as the least of goblin-kind) are both the Vietnamese and the Viet Cong. Dardarrick, at this time will not send their full forces to make war with this upstart on the borderlands, as it is only an insurrection.
Secretly, Lorn is supplying weapons, food goods, and arcane support along a "hochimen trail" through the mountains north of Dardarrick. Lorn's only interest is in drawing Dardarrick's eyes to different borders, while they plan their own winter campaign on the southern Lorn-Dardarrick trench borders.
The goblins are building interconnected warrens along their border and sometimes well into Dardarrick sovereignty - like the Viet Cong tunnel systems in south Viet Nam, where entire battallions are mustered, housed, given medical and food support with armories and storage ready to strike in coordinated attacks to the enemy.
Though the goblins are lowly equipped compared to Wraith Recon, their organizational skills, resourcefulness, tunnel system refuge and support from Lorn, as well as the large numbers of goblins make them a serious threat to the border country.
Fire giant and orc shocktroops through alliances and promises made by Shraga, gives the goblins some level of overwhelming assault, while they sneak 50 goblin units on raids into Dardarrick.
There may even be some Tomarsson spies supplying military logistical information about Dardarrick forces to Shraga, and performing as terrorists to disrupt supply lines to the border country.
I see an ongoing campaign with infinite number of missions until a resolution is met. A campaign arc that easily motivates a WR storyline.
I have no problems if Mongoose would want to publish a campaign series based on the above scenario, perhaps not.
Thoughts?
Michael
