Designing new ship-s stats

Hello everybody

I would ask here if there exist some basic rules to design the stats for ships not covered in the books.
Examples of these ships would be the monitor HMS Roberts, or the italian corvettes Gabbiano class.

It will be great.
I´m something like a freakey in terms of wargames. I use to paint and play with the most strange army I can found, and in Vas I would like to use corvettes, monitors and those ships usually left out of the rules.

Another thing is that I would like to prepare stats for the Spanish navies (Republicans and Nationals) during the Spanish Civil War. And also during the 2nd World War.

This is the reason why I should like to know the way in which I can write the stats for ships, knwing the real stats.
