This looks like this could be your best yet :)

One question - will the ref's book consider players generating characters that have joined the ship enroute?

We think so :)

The roles Travellers play are extremely flexible in this campaign, meaning they can come from pretty much anywhere and be introduced at any time...

One of the biggest challenges of this project - apart from all the others - was how to accommodate the player who doesn't want to play an explorer, scientist, naval or scout crewmember.

There is room for almost any sort of character on the misison. Not offically, but oddballs might be picked up or sent along, or somehow end up co-opted into the misison - and there are things for them to do. As noted somewhere in th etext it might be that the fate of every living thing in the galaxy might rest with the suave but otherwise not very useful husband of the misison commander - who should not have been on the expeidtion in the first place.

Deepnight Revelation is about choices made by people. Who those people are is very open.

The Neelix rule?

Why are you here? What do you even do? You’re just a Neelix.

*cries*

Hey - a big expedition could always use a clerk to keep everything organized and the books balanced. Or maybe a couple of semi-skilled cargo handlers to scrub decks, set up base camps and change lighting elements. Or an itinerant entertainer brought on board to help boost morale. Bio teams might need a hunter/survivalist or two to help collect specimens. An artist/journalist might be brought in to help document the trip and findings. Specialized or experimental gear might require a civilian expert from the company that built it because the IISS or the IN has no previous experience with that equipment. A high-ranking Imperial bureaucrat might insist the expedition includes a alien affairs facilitation adjunct to keep those incompetent Navy types from accidentally starting a war with someone the Imperium’s never met before.

Or maybe it’s a crazy old-timer (8-term ex-Scout/drifter?) dredged out an obscure bar on a dead-end world who happens to be the last survivor from a previous trip into that region.

There’s any number of different possibilities. It’ll just be up to the GMs and the players to find them. Best to not be too prescriptive and let them come up with their own rationales.

That was the sort of thing we looked at. There may be people aboard as cargo handlers or lab rats who are experts in some hugely obscure field or who have reasons for volunteering for a mission like this that don't match the primary recruiting criteria. One of the ship's clerks or stewards might eventually emerge as an indispensible hero.

When do you think the Deepnight Legacy PDF will be available to backers to wet their appetite. Thanks

This Friday morning (you will be able to download it straight from the Kickstarter site)!

Funny you should mention that possibility...

Just a reminder - there are now only a few hours to go before we launch the Deepnight Revelation Kickstarter for Traveller, a truly epic campaign that will send your players further than anyone has gone before!

The excitement starts tomorrow at 10am, GMT!

What about those Travellers who survived Deepnight Endeavour? I'm sure they gained MUCH more knowledge/experience with the Entity than these Deepnight Legacy amateurs!
No, really, does the Imperium know of Deepnight Endeavour and its fate? Do you have the option to use Deepnight Endeavour as "(the) adventure that introduces the Travellers to their mammoth task"? I would *LOVE° to see a new Stretch Goal adding an expansion booklet to the 'original' adventure (more NPCs, detailed deckplans, sample encounters, etc. etc.)...

We left the Deepnight Endeavour question open. That way referees who have it can use it as an introduction (or you might even encounter it on the way back from deepnight Legacy) but we're not requiring anyone to buy another product to use this one.
