Mongoose
Heard a foul rumour that Aaron has left Mongoose to seek his fortune, can it be true? (And we never got see him eat a mug)

I'll guess the heroquest GL raiding scenario is out the window, but Clanking City and Guide to Uz, are they finished? Anyone who knows?

The big hope would be that they get another old gloranthan writer like Voriof, but that's probably way too much to hope for.

I can't say about the Heroquest scenario, but I know CC and Uz are done.

Perhaps he couldn't also support the constant critics on his alleged lack of Gloranthan knowledge. If he was no expert (everyone needs some time febore being expert in anything) I appreciated his works.

He didn't have constant criticism on any of his work, in fact he had very little criticism at all from what I remember. He did a superb job on MoG, and roll on CC and Uz.

Good luck DBC, we'll miss ya!

Didn't he mention in his blog, that he might do some more writing for the Mongoose maybe as a free lance kind of thing? I seem to remember that he mentioned something the like might have crossed Ian's mind and has been discussed...
And wasn't the new job he took on first for a time span of 8 top 12 months? So there's hope yet :)

You must not have read all thecritics on the RQ forum then.

Funcom is BIG, and Age of Conan is to be their new flagship. Don't think we will see him for a while, especially as the pay was a lot better too.

Underpayed and overworked employees might be good for buisness, but it's certainly bad for the game.

Somewhat unfortunately, he is right: video game industry is probably more the future than pen & paper RPG even if it will always be played (because nothing can substitute to these gaming sessions).

Can you give a link to any particular thread?

I remember a discussion on the flammability of Trolls skin, where he was corrected on a few issues - nothing too critical there though that I recall.

Regarding MoG, there was one rant by some idiot who showed up and then disappeared just as quick, the rest of the feedback I saw was very favourable.

So I'm still trying to recall all this criticism he got. :?

Yeah, let's just praise whatever Mongoose puts out in fear that their writers will quit if we don't.

It's plain silly to imply he quit because one guy, Qui.. -something was criticising MoG. You don't think maybe the pay had anything to do with it?

What's been criticised on these boards are mainly the rules and the editing. All the Gloranthan books have been given a warm welcome, MoG especially so.

As a side note, DBC, Gar and Myself ALL worked on Age of Conan for a few months at a time...it was a blast while I was over there, and although I would never leave my wife behind to move to Norway, I can see how Aaron (DBC) made the choice.

I just hope that NO ONE thinks that Aaron was running away from Mongoose, he is running TOWARDS what he trusts will be an awesome and profitable future. I, for one, think he is going to do great over there.

Me? I love my job too much to leave the hands-on of the RPG/mini gaming industry for video games, no matter the money difference.

Speaking of which, I need to get back to work. :)

Cheers all,
Bry

It wasn't me! I might be A Qui...-something but I am not THAT Qui...-something. Even if Rurik insists that was my evil twin.

(My real evil twin is called Tarquin, and he is PROPER EVIL like.)

I think he's talking of Quintus.

Are you allowed to have a 5 minutes break in 24 hours?

Yep, I know!

Now, for saying his name out loud, you have to hold your nose with your right hand and hop on your left foot three times widdershins whilst proclaiming "Sutniuq! Sutniuq! Sutniuq!" It's the only thing that can save us now.

I didn't read all the threads but I think some people complied because posts and entire threads were deleted.

As to the wage, of course it has to do, but there is usually several factors, especially when you have to emigrate in another country with a different culture and language.

At least he can tell us if there is still snow in winter.
