Darkness & Moon Elementals?

Without looking closely at the rules, introduced a Darkness elemental into my game...then found that they are not included in the Elemental creatures section. AH's RQIII had Darkness Elementals as Shades. Does anyone have advice about converting the RQIII Shade (or an already-converted Shade?).

And in the Spirit section, MRQ2 lists "Moon" elementals. Is there a standard elemental type for this?

Steve

Darkness elementals are Shades which are scary and cold.
Moon elementals are Lunes which are maddening or Selenes which are connected with the Blue Moon (I think).

Presumably, Shades aren't included in the RuneQuest II rules because of the ambiguity of Darkness as an element (OK inside Glorantha, iffy outside Glorantha). I'd have other types of elemental as well, not restricted to the normal elements.

Shade:
STR 1D6/cubic metre
SIZ 1 per cubic metre
INT 3
POW 1D6/cubic metre
DEX 2D6
HP 1D6 per cubic metre
Combat Actions 2
Movement 12m

A shade attacks by Fearshock. It matches its Persistence vs any engulfed character's Resilience, with a success meaning the person is affected by the Fear divine spell for 15 minutes. Partially engulfed characters receive a +50% bonus to their Resilience against this effect.

Anyone engulfed by a shade takes 1 point of cold damage to a random hit location, ignoring armour, per combat round because of the intense coldness of the shade's form.

Lune
STR 1D6/cubic metre
SIZ 1 per cubic metre
INT 3
POW 1D6/cubic metre
DEX 2D6
HP 1D6 per cubic metre
Combat Actions 2
Movement 12m

Lunes are elementals formed from the Moon itself. They are manifested on the Moon or where there are Moon Rocks. Each cubic metre of Selene requires 6 ENC of Moon Rock to manifect. In Second Age Glorantha the Red Moon has not yet appeared, so Moon Rock should be incredibly rare, being the remnants of the bodies of earlier Moon Goddesses.

A lune attacks by Madness. It matches its Persistence vs any engulfed character's Resilience, with a success meaning the person is affected by the Madness divine spell for 15 minutes. Partially engulfed characters receive a +50% bonus to their Resilience against this effect.

Anyone engulfed by a lune loses 1 Magic Point per combat round, because of the intense magical entropy of the lune's form.

Selene
STR 1D6/cubic metre
SIZ 1 per cubic metre
INT 3
POW 1D6/cubic metre
DEX 2D6
HP 1D6 per cubic metre
Combat Actions 2
Movement 12m

Selenes are elementals formed from the light of the Blue Moon. They are manifested on the Blue Moon Plateau or where there are Blue Moon Rocks. Each cubic metre of Selene requires 6 ENC of Blue Moon Rock to manifect.

Selenes are invisible and indetectable by most senses, although Shamans might be able to sense them. They are visible to those under the effect of certain spells, such as Soul Sight, Mystic Vision or Second Sight.

Anyone engulfed by a Selene loses 1 Magic Point and 1 point of cold damage to a random hit location, ignoring armour, per combat round, because of the intense magical entropy of the selene's form.

Thanks!

I was prepping my Friday game on the fly, and mostly miffed that the other two elementals weren't listed (and that I was caught out). I'm working through the Rune implications for my world, and may generate a longer list of elementals before I'm done. I just expected the core rulebook to land one place or another (either include the other two in the elemental section or not mention them as options in the spirit section).

I've never seen Lunes before. Are they your own creation or from another source? I've been a Glorantha appreciator since White Bear & Red Moon, but never played in it (and certainly I've not immersed myself in the material). So many of the subtleties of interpretation that are tied to Glorantha are often lost to me.

Lunes are Third Age Gloranthan, from the Lunar Empire. They appear in Gods of Glorantha (RQ3).

Selenes appear in Troll Gods (RQ3) and belong to the Blue Moon.

Since the Red Moon only appears in the Third Age, Second Age Lunes would be very rare, which is probably why they don't appear in MRQ1/2.

I simply adapted the stats as Lunes and Selenes have the same stats as Shades. Shades have 1D6 in everything and do a Fearshock.

The Fearshock/Madness effects in RQ2/3 are slightly different to the Fear/Madness spells in RuneQuest II, which is why I used the Divine Spell - it's easier.
