Hi guys,

Just to let you know, Dara Happa Stirs has now been released, and if you have not seen copies, you will do in the next few days! More details on our main News page. . .

nice video game collection you have there by the way Mathew, i miss not being able to play oblivion and blazing angels etc, must get gaming pc fixed. by the way anyone know if the eldar scrolls games were based on a particular rpg system or if a system is based on them?

Has anyone seen Dara Happa Stirs? The local game shop owner and his distributer seem unaware of its existence.

Any ideas where it was released...Uzbekistan?

Err.. got mine mail order Wednesday. Soft cover, usual moan about maps. It looks seriously challenging, and the first hint is when L.Whitaker esq. advises rolling up completely new characters at veteran level to fit in and survive, gulp!

Had infection problems on computer, so not had time to read in depth, but skimming through it looks to be up the standard of BoO: there can be little better recommendation.

The campaign can surely be played after Blood of Orlanth (if your PCs are then on the EWF side).

The campaign's against the EWF, so although characters who've been through BoO could play DHS, they'd find their EWF affiliations being seriously challenged.

Really, the campaign is designed for Dara Happan characters and is designed to watch them grow over a sustained period of years, but yes, characters from other campaigns can be used - just a question of the GM tinkering with details so that Dara Happan society accommodates non-Dara Happans into the fractious politics of the Pelorian basin.

Have people been able to get a copy of this? It seems to be stuck in the supply chain and unable to get to my FLGS.

Those who have got it, could you pass comment on if it worth the wait (with Loz involved I very much expect it is), and comment on its playability value. Ta.

Having worked on it I can say I really like it, both as a sourcebook and campaign. I am getting pressure form my gaming group to start running it and may well have to cave in after the convention season is over...

Yes, it is well worth the wait. The Dara Happan source material draws on earlier pre-finished/Stafford Library material, but presents it in a "what is going on here and now" manner rather than a dry history, and should provide a good starting point for other adventures set in the Darra Happan cities, especially those not covered by the supplied adventure.

The adventure admits up front it is a bit more "rail-roady" than Blood of Orlanth - how much of a problem this will be depends very much on you/your players. I suspect the introductury chapter will probably be the most troublesome - once the characters have completed that they should be sufficently involved that the subsequent chapters will follow on logically without being forced.
There is also one point which might be less of a challenge if the party is not comprised of the expected Dara Happans, but this should be readily apparent to the GM in plenty of time for them to plan additional challenges!

So a bunch of fanatical EWF-hating Orlanthi from Sky End Stead would be able to fit into the Dara Happa Stirs campaign without too much trouble?

The GM would need to do a fair amount of work, but yes, it could be interesting. Things that would need resolvfing are:

1. Dara Happan attitudes to Orlanthi - sure, the Sky Enders might hate the EWF, but Orlanth killed Yelm - even with a common enemy, there will be some deep-seated mistrust.

2. The campaign itself works through a quite detailed chunk of Dara Happan/Solar mythology. Orlanthi truths will be sorely tested in just about every scenario, but its not without the possibility of a rational explanation. And your fanatical storm worshippers could find some assistance through one particular cult that's active in the campaign.

3. A latter part of the campaign shifts the spectrum of the campaign to a much higher, mythic gear. Orlanthi would definitely struggle, but there are some plot threads involving a big EWF hating Orlanthi mega-hero who would vouchsafe for them.

So, one way of handling the campaign with the Orlanthi would be shift some of the emphasis across to another major NPC as the action changes. That could work very, very well, but would need some work by the GM.

yes, for some values of "Too Much" and "Trouble"...

As Loz suggests, you can probably use much of the themes of Dara Happa stirs for your Orlanthi party, but you might need to amend some of the scenario details to make it work. If you were hoping to pick it up and run it straight off then it might be a bit more tricky...
