Danaussie's Bismarck

Hi my excellent friends,

Here is my latest Mongoose model, this is of the KMS Bismarck, all in all I was really happy with how she turned out, of my whole shipment this was probably the worst in terms of sculpt. She had a few pieces broken off, and the area beneath the lifeboats just aft of the superstructure was filled with resin, the port side will show how this should look. However I did the best I could to hide this small imperfection with the paint. Otherwise, as usual, she was an absolute pleasure to paint, I decided to paint her standard Baltic Scheme.



I used a source from a model guide to find the scheme I most wanted to put on her, she has the black painted turret roofs and the symmetrical black and white camouflage pattern extending all the way up the superstructure.





Its a tough model to get right and in truth Im not sure I got there but the pattern is symmetrical when I view it from the side so I was happy with that.

These really are fabulous models and its great to have a little spare time on my hands to work a little on them.

Well if there is an imperfection I cant find it, so either your paint job is perfect at hiding it or it just disappeared after you painted it. Great looking ship Dan.

Also if you have a broken model or are missing pieces please email Mongoose and they will do all possible to correct the problem.

Cheers Ray thanks for that, yes Eccles already said that I could return any model that was not up to scratch. But seriously if it had been a major flaw I may have considered sending it back, fortunately in that shipment it seems like Bismarck was the exception and not the rule.

I also appreciate that we are not quite fully underway yet, so a flaw or two is to be expected.

Really enjoying these models, and cant wait to paint another one, unfortunately I have a few others on the workbench right now, not of this line and not mine. :lol:

HMS Hood will probably more than likely be my next Mongoose project, but wont be able to even start that for a few more weeks.....more's the pitty.

Thank guys for looking, amazing 1000 hits in a week, I don't think I've generated that much interest in quite some time. :shock:

We like looking at pictures of well-painted models, and yours certainly are!

Regarding the other models which aren't of this line, you could put the photos in the Gallery Posts <Post Your Pics Here!> thread. Or, if they're not Mongoose, you could put them in the Off-Topic Discussion section - it would be good to have something in there which isn't spam!

Hi AdrianH,

It would be great if Mongoose had a "Workshop" section in its forum, perhaps then we could share hints, tips and similar projects in 1:1800th scale.

I have my own website on the build as we speak actually and a good portion of my work including the 2 Mongoose Models I have painted are in the mix, Im not quite ready to launch just yet but I promise, I will give the link to those galleries here if guys would be interested.
