D20 decommissioning

Basically the topic is: OMG! Mongoose is Purging it's D20 titles. And her response is, At least 1st ed Babylon 5 is safe. :)

It looks like the older D20 stuff is going out of print/stock on the website at least. SO if you want any of the titles, you need to get them now.

They've been moving to RuneQuest and Traveller based systems rather than D20. It doesn't look like they plan to do anything based on 4th ed D&D either.

Hope that helps!

No worries, annoying thing is, I'm sure I saw it somewhere else first but I couldn't find it, I had to go looking for that one myself.

Just a thought,

Since Mongoose now have their own inhouse printing, and have said that small print runs are possible, why are these books going out of print?

Unless Mongoose don't have files for them to be printed from, surely they could be run off on as as needed basis?

LBH

I don't know about their process but I'm guessing they'd have a minimum number of books required for each small run. If there's only one person who wants Quintessential Paladin, are you going to print 25 copies and have to store the extras?

Just a thought.

Well they can print off individual books one copy at a time, they have mentioned as much in the past when talking about the in house printing facility.

Well in case anyone needs it later, I've nipped round all the book groups and downloaded all (I hope) of the associated support materials and downloads Mongoose provided.

Now I really need to back up my hard drive, haven't done it in months, and it's not as iof I don't have an external 500GB HDD for exactly that purpose.

I'm thinking that you'll still be able to get most of these products via www.rpgnow.com. Mongoose sells their stuff as downloadable PDFs via that group as well as through Wargaming Online. I've sent an email to Mongoose confirming that they're not going to be removing the files from that site....I hope I'm right, but it would seem silly to remove them from RPGnow if they don't need to pay upkeep on the individual files (and they don't as far as I know)
