Cults Covers

Just curious if anyone knows what the cover art for cults one and cults two are depicting.

From what I understand, in Cults of Glorantha vol. 2, we see an aldryamy as a leader with an uz as a servant of a cult worshipping Tian or Thanatar.

As for the volume 1, I don't know what it could be.

Cool. I think he is getting intense please seeing an Uz bow before his feet, though he looks rather large for Aldryami.

In what Glorantha book you can see pig faced trolls and "generic fantasy" elfs? I though they are in Monsters book, which is generic?

They are in the core rule book.

'Cults Volume 1' obviously is an image of "The First Greater Aspect of Lord Sárku, The Five-Headed Lord of Worms (OK you can only see three heads...), Master of the Undead, Guide into Darkness, the Demon-Lord of Decay and the One Who Comes from the Tomb".

The only snag is it isn't very Gloranthan - but apart from that it's a perfect match.

Yes. It is a lovely cover but none of the cults in Cults of Glorantha 1 practice human sacrifice. I thought it was more of a Thed ceremony, personally, from that cult in Cults 2.

I've always thought Cults 1 showed a Krarsht temple, although I have no idea how there could be that many worshippers of the Devouring Mother.

Which leads me to ... when are we gonna see Krarsht?

Krarshtkids are in MonstersII and she's mentioned briefly elsewhere.

Karsht has or had a lot of worshippers in the 2nd Age as I recall. The God Learners had a lot of problems with that. I figure the CoG2 book was more of a Thanatar thing going.

I'd written it up but I guess it didn't make it into the final publication.

I'm still plumping for a non-Gloranthan explanation.

For example, it could still be: Gititlén, The Eater of Souls, Lord of the Sixteenth Circle, the One Who Howls Below - demon of the substance of Lord Hrü'ü and the essence of Kársul, Doomed Prince of the Blue Room...

Or, maybe I read that RQ scenario in 'White Dwarf' 54 one too many times?
